Since I haven't received my posters yet and so many other have, I dropped an email to Art4Now to check on the status. Here is their reply.

Dear Valued Customer:

Thank you for your recent inquiry regarding your order. Our office experienced minor flooding on Sunday, June 15, 2008 and, as a result, was forced to close. Our inventory was not damaged, but our shipping materials and systems did sustain some damage. We are currently replacing those items and assessing our damage.

We plan to reopen our offices within the next week and to resume shipping within the next 10 business days. Unfortunately, we will not be able to research any inquiries until Wednesday, June 25, 2008. We will send out an email during the week of June 23rd with additional details about the shipping status of orders, anticipated timeline for replies to inquiries, and contact information (if changed).

We assure you that we are working diligently to reopen and resume shipping. However, it is a tedious process. We apologize for the delay and appreciate your continued patience.

Sincerely,
Art4Now

Thank god for that.

Boy, those people need to find a shop on some higher ground. They got nailed pretty badly during the thing, and you think they would have learned a couple of things from that....

oh, yea, I was in town that Sunday - it was quite a morning deluge, but most places were dried out the same day, I thought.

I feel fortunate that they mailed mine the week before. Good luck to all of you who didn't get your order yet.

Does anyone know how they decide who gets what number? Seems like if I order early or late, buy on the first day of the fest or the last, I get a number that is at least 1/3rd (if not more down). Who gets number 1, 2, etc?

It's supposed to be random, and looking at what is on my walls, the distribution seems to support that. My lowest number, 224 (of 5000, '06 congo), and my highest 12,323 (of 12,500, '06 Fats) came in the same tube, same order.

{They may pull a few of the very low numbers for display at the Fest, etc, not sure.}

Just sheer probability would support what you're seeing, though. In an edition of 10,000, your odds of getting a number 3000 or higher are 70%. And the chances of getting a single or double digit print (1-99) are less than 1 in 100.

Well, I think the numbers are just written in pencil anyway. Get yourself a big eraser, and make it whatever you want! :>)

hopefully i'll get my poster berfore X-mas. I doubt it. I'll ask once again, can art4now be dropped as the vendor for the jazzfest posters. it is painfully obvious that they can't handle the job.

If they had gotten their shit together like a reputable vendor should, all the 2008 posters would have already been shipped and received by now so a June 15 flood would not have affected 2008 poster delivery.

This and the other things I have read here have made me vow to never purchase from Art4Now.

I may be in the minority here, but I have never had a problem with Art4Now. I have ordered Jazz Fest posters from them for at least the last ten years. This year I got my posters on May 14th. Perhaps the key to early delivery is ordering early, I usually order the poster the day it goes on sale and I have never waited till June to receive one.

Everyone knows it takes 4 months to put a poster in a tube, relax.

LOL

I kid, I kid. I'd be upset too!

Please have patience with these small businesses down here. Three years after Katrina, these businesses are STILL short staffed, and doing their best! Plus, it seems like Art4Now is not in the best of locations, and since we are currently waiting for 'Fay' to pass us by, perhaps they busy trying to prevent further flooding!

It's got to make you crazy, Larry. I'm all for supporting small businesses in New Orleans, but Art4Now has a monopoly and yet has got to have the worst track record of customer service. As a loyal group of customers, T-Heads have to rank at the top, and even here you find story on story of delay and bad communication.
The bright side? A Kermit/Congo poster recently sold for $52, less than list, on e-bay!

I pondered this over the weekend while I was watching Irma at Lincoln Center. I haven't received Irma or Kermit. I'll followup in a couple of days.

Best advice is to call them. I finally found out what happened to mine. Apparently there was a typo in the security code for my credit card, so the order had been cancelled. They never told me though. So anyway, I went online and re-ordered and they came within a couple of weeks.

Good luck!
