Last Thanksgiving 5 guys from work got on the scale and put 100 bucks each down on a Biggest Loser type weight bet.3 of us have had amazing sucsess with sensible diet and excersize and taking it easy on the hootch (well except for Patry Day). Now there is 2 weeks left till the big weigh in and one guy has a 10 lb. lead on me. Does anybody have a secret method from their high school wrestling days ,or anything not involving an enema that could put me over the top?

No carbs and no salt. I've lost weight really fast just by eating salad with lemon juice and skinless chicken breast for a week.

If you could do soup for 5 days you'll be a sure winner.

Boil up a couple of big cans of chopped tomatoes in water with lots of celery, capsicum, onion...anything kinda acidy. I used to add a pack of spring vegetable soup and a couple of chillis. Eat it three times a day and drink gallons of water. It's crap after the first two bowls, and absolutely no good for long term success... but a hundred bucks is a hundred bucks! Good luck and let us know how you go.

Add cabbage to that soup to give it a little fiber.

You can lose 10 pounds fairly quick on the induction phase of Atkins -- just meat (not fried or any toppings), green veggies, water . . . Sadly no booze!

Two weeks? Well, first you need to cancel your BBQ on July 4th. ;)

You have to consider that your friend is probably also going to try for a big closing sprint, right? So are you really looking to lose 10 lbs in two weeks, or more like 15? That's a lot of weight to lose in two weeks, particularly with a major holiday weekend in there.

I assume your bet is winner take all, right? Otherwise, I'd say to settle for second place and be happy with your accomplishment.

But, that wasn't your question so here are some tips....

Buy a jar of 100% cranberry juice (Trader Joe's has the best/cheapest)

Fruit smoothies for breakfast made from fresh or frozen berries, 100% cranberry juice (1/4 cup), 8 oz water, 1 scoop whey protein (unflavored or vanilla). Flax oil capsules (4) or 1 tsp flax oil in the smoothie if you don't mind the taste.

Mid-morning, more fresh fruit of your choice, except bananas (very high in sugar).

Lunch -- eat the biggest salad you can push down. Lots of veggies (thank goodness it's summertime). We're talking high volume consumption here. Lots and lots of greens and assorted veggies. Add up to 4 oz of ONE kind of protein (turkey, shrimp, eggs, tuna, low-sodium ham). DO NOT COMBINE PROTEIN TYPES. Use a fat-free dressing and lemon juice. Drink at least 8oz of cran-water, made from 1oz cranberry juice and 7oz water.

Mid-afternoon, a snack of something that includes complex carbs. I like hummous with sugar-snap peas, or whole wheat pita. More cran-water.

Depending on when your regular dinner time occurs, you might want to plan on a second late-afternoon, early-evening snack. I generally try to have a Lean Cuisine-type mini-meal as a before dinner 'snack' because we don't eat until after 7:00. They're generally about 250 calories, satisfying and will get you through the afternoon much better than a Milky Way bar containing the same calories. Some are better than others when it comes to sodium, so read the labels and go for the Spa Cuisine types. Also, try to stay with the same protein type as your lunch. Sticking with a single animal-protein source per day will increase your weight loss more than dropping the total number of calories -- you'll feel better too. Guess what the beverage of choice here is? yep, cranwater.

Dinner, the cabbage soup is a good idea but watch the sodium content on any broth or tomato products you add. But, it's summertime and hot soup might not be something that appeals to you. Any vegetables and protein (preferably consistent with lunch) will work. You can add additional complex carbohydrates at dinner such as brown rice but you'll lose faster without them.

The Big Picture is fruit, fruit, fruit throughout the morning, high volume/high fiber/low calorie meals, snacks so that you're eating every few hours, one animal source of protein per day, cranwater with every meal, lemon juice wherever you think it applies, restrict salt, stick with complex carbohydrates (minimize).

Do you work out?

Parsley & Celery are great diuretics and virtually no calories. Always good before the weigh-in!

Ah, high school wrestling days! We used to fashion a suit from plastic garbage bags and seal it up with duct tape. Then jog around if sunny outside, or hop in hot shower as long as we could stand it. No faster way to shed water weight! Of course this dangerous & could produce heat stroke, we only did it when still 5+ pounds over weight limit. We did this as close to weigh in time as possible, then guzzled ice water, gatorade etc. immediately after weigh in.

Here is my diet advice. Eat three or four pieces of deep dish pizza. It fills you up and your not hungry for a few hours. Also, 4 egg omeletes for breakfast will tie you over for lunch and make you forget about the 10 AM snack. Double bacon cheeseburgers w/ cheddar fries and a milkshake are also great appetite suppressors. And never go to bed hungry. I usually have peanut butter and jelly or honey around 10:30 to tie me over until breakfast. Sometimes ice cream after that. This plan really works. Trust me. I'm down nearly 15 pounds in the past 12 months.

Give yourself a break the weight is hard to take off but not as hard as quitting smoking. and trying to both at the same time is almost impossible. Just keep up the good work with the smoking.
