This sounds interesting.

In a Voodoo first, the Preservation Hall Jazz Band will team up with gospel dynamos The Blind Boys of Alabama for a special "gospel brunch" set on Sunday. The partnership was the brainchild of Preservation Hall director Ben Jaffe, who has organized several prior collaborations with the Blind Boys.

I like how Ben Jaffe thinks! I just might be there -- haven't decided yet.

does anyone know when the daily grids are announced?

My guess would be 4-6 weeks beforehand, so mid-September. The headliners will probably post their dates before the entire schedule is released. Is there someone in particular that you are curious about?

shit, that lineup is amazing!

Grids came out pretty late last year...can't remember exactly when but I remember being bummed that I thought the fest started Friday at 6 and found out later in the lineup (after flights were booked) that it started at noon. Missed a TON of great bands that day :(

No, not really. I'm just looking at flights/hotels and trying to decide if I'll need to skip one day due to work/family obligations. If I have to skip one I'd like to know who is playing which day beforehand.

Yeah, Corona, that's my concern. If we have to fly in on Friday or out on Sunday then...

Either way, you're gonna miss some great bands....the hard part is taking a chance on who you'll miss....we missed Bonerama and a few others that hurt like hell to miss....good luck kid...

Hey Zydekitten!

I want to extend an open invitation for yall to drop by our camp site, Sloonerville, any time you care to during Magnolia Fest.

We camp in primitive, but I assure you that we don't live like savages... :D We pass a good time, for sure!

Seriously: We go every year, twice a year, and love the Magnolia events.

Someone else started a thread on the Bear Creek Fest, and I'm keen to go to that as well this year. The Suwannee is a magical place, that's for sure.

Peace yall.

Hey, Freebo!

Very cool - thanks! We'll be either in a cabin (if we can still get one) or in an RV (like we had with the jello/pudding shot headquarters and laboratory) at Crawfishfest and would love to pass a good time with y'all! :)

Yeah, the Bear Creek Fest looks excellent also . . . hmmmm, I wonder if we can make that one work too . . . ;) :D

The set-up last year allowed me to catch almost everybody I wanted to see without much trouble.

does anyone know when the daily grids are announced?

It was late last year before they had the BNA's sorted. But I do know that STP is playing 10/24 and REM 10/26, so one would guess NIN 10/25??

I see Rev Horton Heat and Grace Potter also on the 24th, Bonerama and Erika Badu on the 25th, Death Cab for Cutie and Ozomatli on the 26th. I'm sure with a little more searching thru some of the bands web pages, it'll be clear even before they officially announce:)

Wait, what?

Did she just say: "Jello shot headquarters / laboratory"?

Never mind Sloonerville: I'll be swinging by YOUR place. :D

Seriously: I'll keep in touch as the Festival draws closer...

Yay!
