if y'all remember, last year they added some additional names/bands to the line up after the official line up was announced - anyone heard that they may also be the case this year?

Festy Dave .... any input? :D

I"m not FestyDave, but Quint intimated in the TP that there was at least one BNA slot that wasn't filled yet. In my long history of JFs, there have always been additions (and deletions).

At least one major slot on the schedule is still unfilled, Davis said.

"As great as this festival looks, we're not done," he said. "It's going to get another shot in the arm."

That's true. They are playing Orange Beach Alabama on April 27th and 28th. It'd be easy to bus it to New Orleans for Sunday the 29th.

Throw us a bone, Quint.

I remember you announcing their Big Reunion in 2005, with tears in your eyes.

Last year a whole lot had changed... They played opposite Bruce, and yes, that overshadowed our homegrown funky gumbo stew.

Now, two years later, they ain't even on the bill.

Last year, Art Neville was honored on the Jazz Fest cachet, the collectible postage envelope.

Is he even booked at the Fair Grounds this year?

Sigh.

It's a fantastic lineup, and what did they say, 88% Louisiana based? That's laudable. God bless you for all that.

But please, for us funky loving music freaks...

The Meters, baby! Bring back the funk.

I don't think that's Quint's call; it's all four original members choosing to play together's call. I guarantee they have a slot open every year as long as they're willing to play together

I don't know if there is any venue for them to play at night. UNO is still closed and so is the Municipal Auditorium. New Orleans arena is too big and all other venues would be too small.

Either they're playing the fairgrounds still or it will be no Panic in New Orleans in 2 years and not one show since Katrina. Complete rubbish.

George T. was a minor league baseball player. In the pantheon of music, I always considered him a minor league rock 'n roller as well. If Aerosmith is the poor man's Rolling Stones, George T. is the poor man's Aerosmith.

I think he's a pretty cool dude, though. I just hope he does the new material from his latest CD. It's better than his early bar-band covers of blues.

You can hear his old stuff anytime; just flip on the FM radio and tune in a Classic Rock station.

I have always been a big Mellancamp fan, but never got to see him live till 2 years ago. I have to say I was a little disappointed. He did a lot of reworked slower versions of his more rocking songs. Slower songs like "pink Houses" and such sounded great, but the other stuff not so much. At one point my friend asked me what songs other than the obivious he might do for the encore and i said "probally Rockin in the U.S.A" at which point I was told he did that about 10 songs ago. Wasn't very memorable I guess. Just mho. That bieng said if he played the fest , I would go see him again in a heartbeat.

Fogerty opened and was totally awsome.

Just seeing this for the first time. Widespread Panic are not going to be playing Jazz Fest this year. Sorry. There is always the addition of a handful of local bands that were either contracted late or that Quint finds room for after he makes the "cubes". The meters look like they may be taking another break but George and Zig both have Jazz Fest plays and Leo is the New Orleans Social club so I guess we could start a poll as to what bands art will sit in with this year. Quint is hopeful that he will add another headliner to the mix but he is also very confident with the way the schedule currently is so it's not make or break for the Fest.

You can use the extra time to go find a band youve never seen before, and possibly find a favorite new band
yup, thats the best part about them NOT playing....less FOMS :) :)

If you love southern fried rock, don't miss jj grey and mofro. Some greasy, laid back stuff. They're usually early in the day at fests because of that. great way to wake up.

Yeah, MOFRO is da bomb. Very stoked they're playing the fairgrounds this year. One of the best nighttime shows EVER was MOFRO at Mermaid Lounge (R.I.P.) in 2004....:D

I have seen no mention of Jimmy Buffett playing at JF, but his daughter, Savannah Jane, said on hr radio broadcast that her father was playing the JF on April 28. Anyone heard that?

Any chance this could be wrong? His official site, Margaritaville doesn't list it. I'm still holding out hope that he won't be there 'till 2nd weekend.....:{
Of course, this could be JUST the inspiration I need to make it for the whole enchilada......This and the recent announcement of the Threadhead Patry!!!

Sonny Landreth, slide player extrordanaire, IS going to be there first weekend and he is kinda sorta a coral reefer now. Best musician in the band, IMO. I believe Jimmy is just adhering to my myspace request I sent him to play fest again this year. So you can blame me or thank me, depending on which side of the fence you stand on the great Buffett@Fest debate.
He didn't have the newest album out last year in time and it does have the cover of "wheel inside the wheel" and his song "Breathe In, Breathe Out, Move On" which are NOLA-related.
Chipchopchick, we have to get up front again-who got us there? Amy and Jeff was that you that let us drop your name to the H2O boys???
