Website seems to be down

Any news on artists? The vibe in Helena just rules. Phil Lesh and the Black Crowes are in Atlanta Sunday October 5 so I have a southuhn tour plot in formulation.

The site's been down for at least a couple of weeks now.

Who can tell me about the camping there? I know the fire dept. sets something up in the nearby park. How primitive is it? Running water? Bathrooms? Showers?

Hi, Swag,

A couple of gal pals and I have camped there a couple of times. We drove in from Cincy with no males in our company, with out -of -state tags on our vehicle, and never encountered any harassment from anyone. Everyone is really fun at the campground. It's a big party scene with all night jams and stuff at various campsites.

You buy a weekend pass for about $40 (?) and it benefits the local fire department. There are guys from the F.D. who are there the whole time. You can buy firewood from them. They used to go from site to site selling ice, too.

The campground itself is primitive with a capital "P." There is a row of port-o-johns. No electricity, but some people have generators for RVs.

As for showers, there is a laundromat in town that sells showers for 4 or 5 bucks. That includes everything ... soap, shampoo, bath linens, disposable razor and maybe even a toothbrush & toothpaste. It's a short walk from the campgrounds and then you can have a nice hot breakfast at one of the restaurants afterward.

Everyone I met there was friendly. We'd leave stuff in our tent unattended all day and everything was there when we came back at midnight.

It's such a blast that some people go and camp there for a week without ever setting foot on the festival grounds. You can hear everything fine from the campground; it's about a 10 minute walk from the main stage.

I broke down and called (you're welcome). There is a new website, but it is still being worked on. You can find information there. The lineup is due in mid-July. Here is the website: www.bluesandheritagefest.net .

Hey, Texasyokel, you might want to edit out the old website info to avoid confusion.
