Has anyone heard of or gone to this festival?

Its the Bayou Boogaloo Festival in Norfolk Va. There is a chance of me participating in it, but I have never heard of it and I need some feedback ASAP please. The music looks great, but there is no mention of a Crafts section. I was emailed today about a meeting with them tomorrow, so I'd like to know a little more...TIA

Hi Rosetree-
We actually live 90 minutes from Norfolk and very nearly attended the Boogaloo last year. The weekend conflicts with my daughter's birthday, though. So we had to pass.
Can't beat the music lineup. I would not count on the food being anything to write home about. My experience here is that what they think is cajun is really just something deep fried.
I wish I could give you more info. Don't know squat about the arts part of it, but if you decide to come, let us know. Would love to come for the day and say "hi"!!
(Oh, Town Point Park is supposed to be a nice place for a festival, from what I've heard....if that helps any at all)
Good Luck!

I wanted to go, but it conflicted with something else I was doing that weekend this past summer.

I know sort of know someone who volunteers for that fest, and they said that the food is good.

I've gone a few times. It's really a great little festival and I highly recommend it. Oh, did I say that outloud? No, I didn't mean that... um.. no. It's not so hot. I mean, It's not so good. Whew... almost blew it. Don't want it so packed that we can't move around easily and have room to dance!

Seriously, it's really a great fest. Lots of wonderful music, lots of good food and drink and crafts. My son was stationed in Norfolk for 4 years and we tried to get there during that time... believe me it was a great excuse! Lots of decent hotels within walking distance and lots of restaurants, too. Norfolk is a nice, small town, full of folks from all over the country, thanks to the USNavy, but there's tons of locals, too, that show up, as well as lots of Zydeco, Cajun and Blues music fans from the area. It's only 90 mins away from Outer Banks, NC, so you get a draw from there as well.

We've seen lots of our favorite Jazz Fests artists there and the price is so good!

I hope you decide to go, you'll enjoy it for sure!
