Nice lineup, wish I could make it.

The lineup is amazing, so many of my favorite bands. I'd go BUT I have been to All Good once, the summer before last. It wasn't really ALL good, it was completely overcrowded and there were not enough facilities for as many people as showed up. By Sunday AM the porta potties were all filled over the top. Like, filled up over the top of the seat! And people kept on using them anyway. SO NASTY. They ran out of bottled water and it was 90 degrees with 99% humidity. It was the only jamband type fest where I have seen fistfights breaking out. It took some people 10 hours to get in, it's one long line of cars up this single lane mountain road. It rained alot and there was a sea of mud everywhere with flooding throughout the campgrounds. Everyones stuff was soaked and never dried out the whole weekend. The music was cancelled the first night because lightning stuck a stage. I was so scared sleeping in my tent on top of that mountain with lightning striking all around that I got out and slept in the car.Maybe it was just an unlucky weekend but I wouldn't do that fest again.

Sounds like the first Wakarusa in Kansas. Huge storm. Porta potties overflowing due to the emptiers forgetting about some of them.

All Good was one of the best festivals I've ever been to :D My first All Good was last year. The air was fresh, wasn't really crowded, and there were good people and tight bands all around. I'm a moe.ron so I was all about the late night super jam with moe. Grace Potter came out and rocked it! I'm waiting for her to smash that guitar. Sat backstage with Matt McDonald from Perpetual Groove before he went onstage and played those keys so hard and so long that I swore I saw his fingers bleed. He was replaced by Trevor Garrod from Tea Leaf Green. Tea Leaf was in between moe. and the super jam and it was tight!

I could go on- Keller and the Keels, Michael Franti and Spearhead, Ryan Montbleau, DSO, and especially PBS!! There's always so much to see it can be overwhelming.

But Bonerama this year?! They have a weird set time on Sunday at noon. A lot of people will be sleeping off the late night jam, but I'm hoping the Bones wake 'em all up:-)

Anyone been to this fest lately? The lineup this year is pretty good, imo. Thinking about it but wondering if the promoters have learned anything from experience over the last 5 years. Don't think you can have your car near your camp this year and need to be prepared to carry your gear 100 - 400 yards. That is not a plus. Lineup is pretty sweet though... Fiirst tier ticket discount is over Monday.

Never been, but it's on the 2011 wishlist. The fact that it's the weekend before Vibes makes it unlikely for me. But damn, what a lineup! Plus, easy driving distance from me. Would really love to go...

Some of the stuff I've read on other chat boards for this fest has caused me to have a little "wook allergy" and think that lightning might not be the only thing to fear here, but the lineup is definitely solid. It's a relatively easy 6-hr drive for me too. Sorry we didn't meet over fest (I went partially lame and am still kicking myself for missing that Orgone show I was ticketed for). We seem to like all the same things. If you should happen to want to contact me, my public addy is jazzfestcondo at hotmail dot com. Are you doing Bear Creek?

By the way, you did notice the above lineup is 2008. However 2011 looks real good except for Donna the Buffalo which is a little scary in and of itself from what I've heard. Pun not intended.

I've heard negative things about this festie for a couple years now...I've never been though, so can't speak from personal experience.

Yes, the negative I've been reading is a shame since it's a nice setting with a great lineup. Just a real shame. Guess it just reflects the reality of the world today...... but not anxious to seek it out, personally, either. Hard to understand how they can draw such great talent with it's less-than-perfect reputation.

Same here, sorry not to have met you at Fest. And sorry you missed the Orgone show - bummer! Bear Creek is also on the wish list :D

I'll drop you a line in the next day or two :)

Yes, had noticed this was an old thread. Been watching this year's lineup as it's been announced. Stellar! A lot of the big headliners are also going to be at Vibes, which is the weekend after, so All Good is looking unlikely for me. Definitely going to Vibes!

What is scary about Donna the Buffalo? I think they are great; can't wait to see them again in a couple weeks at DelFest.

Sharon, how are things looking for you for DelFest?

Also - we are IN for Bear Creek....

I just heard the people who follow them around are more than a little pushy and rude but it's just hear-say so maybe I'm wrong......as usual.

I have a close-in spot reserved for Bear Creek and am on the wait-list for a cabin. You are more than welcome to join me if it works out.

I'm not at all hip to Vibes. Gotta do some research. Gonna blow off Chicago Blues fest because of an underwhelming lineup so I'll have a Southwest ticket to burn and I need a festie in July to take me into Medicare. :

Wow, very generous offer!!! I will keep you posted!

Did Vibes for the first time last year. Had a blast!! There's a real good TH krewe that go to that one.

I'm missing Chicago Bluesfest this year too, due to a family commitment.

Not very good travel options from here to Vibes. Closest I can get is Newark. The lineup is indeed solid but, compared to Jazzfest, Hangout and All Good, seems a little......slim. I know it's prolly a lovely weekend tho with quality over quantity. Are you camping for it?

Wow, I've certainly never seen that with "The Herd" (as their followers call themselves). It has been a very laid back, easy-going group in my experience.....but that has mostly been in Florida at SpringFest and MagFest over the last several years. I've had no problems moving up front to dance if I wanted to at their Florida shows. Their music is all about love and understanding and good vibes so that really surprises me that you've heard that.

We'll have a (rental) camper over on the south side of the grounds, just beyond the Music Hall. See you there!

I've been twice. Three years ago and last year.

Camped in general camping area first time and VIP last year.

General camping area is a bit shantytown'ish. Very cramped and more than a bit ripe around the port o lets. Many/most of the camping sites are a good hike from the stages.

VIP is a much different situation with nicer loos, showers and a very short trek to the seating area/stages. I believe VIP is already sold out this year.

This fest, like I'm sure most jamband camping fests, draws a very young crowd which elicited extreme emotions - having to face the reality that I was about 30 years older than almost everyone there was a bit sobering but being able to still get a groove on at 50+ and dance with the youngsters late into the night and be back at noon for some great sets was very life affirming. Yea to us live music veterans.

Very nice vibe on the mountain/viewing area and extremely solid line ups that provided many live music highlights both years.

If you do go and (still) partake be very, very, very careful about transporting supplementals. This is a fishing in a barrel exercise amongst the Highway patrol/WV law enforcement. It's scary and very sad to see how many people are pulled over and busted.

Yeah, I hear ya, not real easy to get to. I flew in to Hartford last year (about an hour drive to Vibes) and a friend picked me up at the airport. I'm driving this year.

It's a great festival in an absolutely beautiful setting. And the lineup is to die for. Like you said, might not be quantity, but sure is quality :)

Definitely NOT camping. A few of the folks on this bored camp, but for me it seemed a little... loud (obnoxious). I couldn't imagine being able to get any sleep, lol! There are partner hotels that have 24 hour shuttles to/from the fest. Last year a few of us stayed on the cheap in Milford and drove to one of the shuttle hotels to catch a ride. Please keep me posted if you are thinking of going!!

Unfortunately, no. Just committed to a biz dinner that night. Also, really bummed I can't be at CFF as I've wanted to get there for several years now and something always comes up to prevent. That Sat line up is divine. I'm hoping for your sake and others that Bonerama and The Bridge extend their late sets by combining for a late, late set.

On the positive side of the ledger, I am ticketed for the Rads in Philly on Sunday, 6/5 (and in Balt tonight - yea!). If you can extend your CFF trip an extra day to make the Philly Rads show let me know.

Peace

I wish I could. I may have to leave CFF right after the last note.

Have fun tonight!!!
