Last night was my first Hornets game. The team looked good and I was very impressed with the atmosphere and entertainment.

But damn, those seats in the upper part of the arena are small. And there's very little leg room. Even the normal sized people were cramped.

It was worth it though. I had a great time.

And then? Celtics/Hornets, who do you root for? Considering you will be a NOLA resident by then...

Actually, I will still be in Boston for the Finals...not in NOLA untill after the playoffs but I will ALWAYS root for Boston teams not matter where I hang my hat.

you can't ask for more than a wide open chance to tie the game with 1:00 or so left in the game after shootin' like crapola for the first three+ quarters.... too bad it didn't hit the net....

hey,.. they had one helluva season!!!......

stand proud new orleans,.. your horn-nets done did real, real, real gooood... no one had them where they went..... you were proud and loud,.. enjoy the good....

I have to question why Pargo kept taking the shots instead of West or Paul. He definitely did NOT have the hot hand!

mark,.. were we watchin' the same game???....pargo was the main man in the 4th..... the ball had no no better home than his hand at that point...

chris paul has my vote for mvp,.. he had an undeniable fan-tastic season,.. he was the best of the best,.. but he fell a bit short at the very end.. west wasn't a factor in the end either... the 4th quarter of a seven game series is a hard place to make up a huge deficeit.....

Yes we were watching the same game....He was the main man but trying too hard...rushed shots, took shots with no one to rebound. The Hornets just couldn't get the ball to drop...:(
What happened to Stojacovic???

I also think if Paul or West would have had the ball a little more at the end they could have had a better chance, but the spurs are just a little better Team for now. Great Season ,Good luck next year.

It was an incredible season for the Hornets and their future looks bright. They accomplished a great deal considering their overall size and experience. If they make good moves in the off-season they could be real trouble for the league next year. San Antonio is a savvy veteran team and the Hornets just didn't have much depth so the season ends even with the truly amazing Chris Paul. I hope he enjoys his off-season although he will likely play on the Olympic team.

My prediction for the playoffs: L.A. beats S.A. 4-1
Detroit beats Boston 4-2
Detroit beats L.A. 4-3

The Hornets magical season ends, but what a season it was!

Any team with uniforms the colour of the Hornets shouldn't be in the league, never mind the finals. Slap some gold and black on them, add some more fleur de lys, and get MEAN!

Kitten was in attendance at the game last night and emotions were high from the get-go . . . but the Hornets just weren't on their game like they needed to be to beat the defending champions - which makes for a sad, sad kitten today . . .

Peja was absent, CP wasn't making his FTs, their 3 point shooting was abysmal . . . the halftime show with Kermit and Irvin was great though!

Good run Hornets... the Spurs are defending champs for a reason, & its not luck. they can HOOP!
Hornets are one more good player away from Champ contenders, tho they could have won if Stoyacovitch (SP?) had been on... he needs to add something to his game beside 3 pointers, so he can contribute when his shot is off.
The whole team was pressing at the endPaul & West included. Pargo did fine.

The Hornets are a young team, definitely will be back (famous final words, I know) but they had their chance, defending champs or not, to take that game last night. That was a bit disappointing. Well no one left to cheer for except my Celtics, right? ;)

"Night on the tarmac

By Johnny Ludden (http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/expertsarchive;_ylt=Avj5mkREd1X_PPrmdTjradaeH8QF?a uthor=Johnny+Ludden), Yahoo! Sports 3 hours, 23 minutes ago

When the San Antonio Spurs (http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/teams/sas/;_ylt=Ar28tyVAUxUbMlSrU9rSFNieH8QF) eliminated the New Orleans Hornets (http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/teams/nor/;_ylt=AjXGBiNlqt8peo63lIOoLQueH8QF) from the playoffs Monday night, they figured the hard part of their journey to the Western Conference finals was over.

Turns out it was only beginning.

In one of the more bizarre travel stories, the Spurs ended up spending the night on the tarmac at New Orleans airport.

The team had planned to fly to Los Angeles after the game, but arrived at the airport to find their flight had mechanical problems. With a cable convention crowding the city’s hotel rooms, the team couldn’t find any place to spend the night.

Some of the players slept on the plane while others moved to buses on the tarmac.

The team left New Orleans around 6:30 a.m. And arrived in Los Angeles a few hours later. The Spurs will have only a brief shootaround on Wednesday morning before opening the conference finals against the Los Angeles Lakers (http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/teams/lal/;_ylt=Aq4gNeb4dGahJh0ofVCM2aqeH8QF) that night."

Heh heh . . . karma's revenge perhaps??? ;) :D

As a lifelong Celtic hater going back to the Chamberlain/ Russell era, I have NEVER rooted for the Celtics.... HOWEVER, if they play L.A. I will be rooting for Celtics the first time ever... shows how much I like the Lakers...
Celtics vs. Detroit or San Antone? neutral.
Only 3 good things about Massachusetts hoops:
1) It was invented in Springfield
2) Dr. J played for U Mass
3) Basketball Hall of Fame... a true mecca for the hoops fan.. awesome. My favorite quote on the wall, from Lou Carnesecca, long time St. John's coach
(2 blocks from my boyhood home in Queens): "Life is good. Basketball is better."

Loved the Redmen during the Chris Mullin era and pull for them anytime they are not playing BC (which is not much anymore)

Chris Mullin was my all time fave white boy hooper. (Dr J. overall fave)
I've never been into that "great white hope" thing (neither was Larry Bird, bless his heart), but one thing has been buggin' me for the past several years: since Stockton's retirement, ALL the best white players have been Europeans. Where are all those Indiana jump shooters, Brooklyn Irish kids and other American Caucasoids???
I hated Larry Bird till the day he retired, then, if you love hoops, you gotta love Larry. Nothing like a good rival....
So now I'm into the "Great American Hope" Tyler Hansborough???

BC vs. St John's?
I really hate what they did with the ACC & Big East. Big East should be Northeast, and ACC the South.
I don't think Carolina & Duke play home & home any more, do they?
It detracts from local rivalries like lets say, oh, Philly/Boston or NYC/ Boston (Or what the hell, Ct./Mass.)
I'm turning into such an old fart, not big fan of the 3 pointer, either...

Yeah I am not much of a fan of BC in the ACC-loved Big East basketball in its heyday
I'm not sure but think you are right about the home and home series

Although the ACC doesnt have a true round robin schedule anymore, I believe certain considerations were made pertaining to longstanding rivalries. Im a MD Terps guy, and I just loved the fact that at the end of the season, everyone played everyone twice, and you felt good about knowing where you stood in the league, now there is an obvious advantage to teams that dont have to play the big guys twice ... although the lague is still pretty strong top to bottom

a little googling confirms my beliefs:
http://graphics.fansonly.com/photos/schools/md/sports/m-baskbl/auto_pdf/acc_schedule.pdf

Basically, each school got assigned two rivals (the primary teams) in this chart
