Clicked through the link on the Threadheads webpage, and found that the Fest Aid site is up. Here is a list of projects for 2007. I definitely want to volunteer for the Animal Rescue project.

That's what we did last year Neen and it was great! Spent a whole day down in the Ninth Ward putting out food and water for animals (we never saw any animals, but the food and water was definitely being consumed).

We worked a couple of days at 2nd Harvest last year. It's very disturbing how many people go hungry in this country and how much food we waste.

We hit up our friends and showed up with a duffle full of basic toiletries we pretty much take for granted. They were surprised we would volunteer our time & bring donations with us. Hopefully, it's become common over the past year.

They were two really good days!!! :) (But not nearly enough) :(

This is one of the best (but far from the only postive) things about the ThreadHead connection.

Great looking site! I know we got a lot of them...but does this deserve a Sticky?

Cool - are you going to do it again this year? Maybe we can volunteer for the same shift.

I, too, worked at Second Harvest for a couple of days and it was excellent!!! I would highly recommend it to anyone who's looking for a volunteer gig for this year's fest.

thank you so much for posting that link! ... schedules & everything! I'm registered with HFHMV already, but was just about to start my search for where to volunteer when I'm in town ... and you removed all the legwork!

I just signed up for the Arabi Wrecking Crew. My dad's a musician and I'm doing this for his "family".

I do want to do it again this year but haven't figured out the timing. Last year we did Wednesday but missed Marcia in the Square and most of Ingrid's patry.

We rented a car that day because you really need one to hit all the feeding sites. They generally send teams to different areas but I see nothing wrong with a team of 3 -- it would go faster. Let's figure out the day when all the music options are out, I'm thinking at this point probably Thursday.

Hello All!

In the next day or so, we are going live with our automated signup process. Thanks Brad and Matt! Get on www.FestAid.com, login, and signup. The sooner you signup, the better, so we can gauge if we need to bump up our commitment to opportunities like Musician's Village. You will be able to revise your choices at any time. If you have problems, click the email links and let us know what they are, so we can address them.

The descriptions for a couple of the opportunities are going to change. Now that we have the signup process working, we will be revising some of the content on the page to update it, and we will be trying to get more volunteer opportiunities. Below is a brief summary of the changes in the volunteer opportunities.

The St. Bernard Project is now the St. Bernard Recovery Project, which is focusing on rebuilding St. Bernard Parish by rebuilding homes, civic centers, schools, and interacting with the community.

Arabi Wrecking Krewe is no longer cleaning and gutting homes. They still need assistance in fundraising, community volunteering, increasing public awareness for the work they are doing and the work that needs to be done, and are looking for licensed, bonded, and insured contractors that can do rebuilding work. Signing up with them will redirect you to their volunteer signup page, and after that you can work directly with them.

Katrina Krewe is no longer picking up trash along New Orleans roads. If you click to signup with them, you will be redirected to the volunteer page on their website, which has many organizations through which you can volunteer.

Thanks for all of your help in the past! We look forward to giving back to New Orleans again this year.

Regards, Huck
