I finally posted mine photos on picasa... here's the link:
http://picasaweb.google.com/MamaRoux2/2008JazzFest
My favorite JF moment was when Terrance sang Pet De Kat from his Grammy award winning CD, and announced that I was in the house... then after the set was over, he had me close my eyes and put my hands out and placed the Grammy in my hands and made me make a speech to the crowd... I HELD a Grammy!!! A real, honest to goodness GRAMMY!!! I do love my boys! I may lust over Tab, but Terrance Simien and the Zydeco Experience are the BEST!!!
<start of rant>...okay, so why were they on that dinky, little stage, when they are Grammy winners??? Can someone explain that to me? Even if Mr. Davis was there to announce them, they surely belonged on a much bigger stage where you could have seen all the band... that made no sense to me..<end of rant... for now>

Yeah, not at all, huh?
I was tickled when he sang my lyric...
Mama Roux, Queen of Pet De Kat Krewe
She knows how to Party
Makes a mean sandwich, too,
Mama Roux...
LOL That's what you get when you feed the boys when they tour in your neck of the woods!
Yeah, I wasn't to excited at all, MD.
I still can't believe I actually HELD a GRAMMY!!! WOW! Ralph and Danny were teasing me about how I was never gonna wash my hands again... but if you look at those pics I posted, you can see my FEET on the FDD stage with Ralph and Danny... what I'm never gonna do is trust PapaRoux to take IMPORTANT photos like that one! LOL

...or that I didn't take any at RT fest! I think I was sorta busy that day. No one ever mentioned running out of Muffa's or goodies, did they? I'm really upset that I didn't take any photos of the prize winning piece, although I made everyone look at it and talked about...
...btw, Nice shirts... I do love my RT shirt, so does papa! I think we'll have to wear them at the CFF in Augusta, NJ... whadda ya think, baby?

Baby, if you didnt' give me a hard time, I'd think something was wrong with you! LOL I sure was busy... the best busy was when I got to push Natalie around and show her all the colors and she loved that. Her little head was looking all around. She found it quite interesting and fun with all those crazy Threadhead there... she's going to be an artist, too, you know... so she was just absorbing it all in... saving it up for later.
Can't wait to find out about when that goes in Ebay... Dona said it was the most amazing thing ever and that nothing could compare to it... and she's right... although I really loved the concept of her painting, but I haven't seen it...

A rock star...LOL I had to laugh.. I sent that photo to a bunch of musician friends and they all basically said the same thing... ME holding a Grammy is about as close to getting one as they'll ever get! LOL One did tell me that he didn't know I was even nominated. Musicians are a real trip, aren't they?

I have it taken by one of Jeff and Amy's friend, a guy name Jef something from the northwest... he sent me a few, but I didn't post those, being he had a Copyright on them... but I think that's the one I sent out to everyone... I like it best cuz it cuts off the luggage under the arms! LOL
So how are you doing now that you're back in school?? sorta tough to adjust and get the nose to the grindstone, isn't it?

"okay, so why were they on that dinky, little stage, when they are Grammy winners???"
After all the complaints about the Accura stage & its crowds, why in the world would you want to send Terrance there? The Fais Do Do stage allows you to get up close or even (God forbid) DANCE! just like the good ole days before JF was overrun with tourists.
Accura would ruin the experience, along with Blues Tent, just another big commercial rock concert... Congo Sq., Fais Do Do and Gentilly stages are where its at..

Homer: Lisa, did you see the Grammys?
Lisa: You beat Dexy's Midnight Runners.
Homer: Well, you haven't heard the last of them.
Homer hangs up, then becomes pensive for a moment, then sighs. He seems depressed. Room service brings him some champagne, and when he looks for a tip, he gives the bellhop his Grammy instead. The bellhop is excited at first ("Hey, an award statue"), but when he sees it's a Grammy, he throws it off the balcony in disgust. A man on the street tosses it back up, only to hit Homer on the head.

Oh I don't want them on Acura! I hate that stage... I had to put up with it for VOW and always do for Mac (who disappointed me this year)... but I think Gentilly would be great for Terrance... much more exposure for them... it just pained me that you couldn't see all the band... they deserve much mo' better than that... I just think putting them on the Fais Do Do was ... well... an insult after winning the very first Cajun category Grammy... if anything, their very own home state should be making huge fusses over them... like the "MY LOUISIANA" commercial... what a GREAT poster that is of him!

Fais Do Do an insult???
Fais Do Do goes back to the roots of zydeco. JF needs to get back to the Louisiana roots & skip the big commercial BS. You could do that anywhere & get closer to the stage.. Nevilles played Denver FOR FREE just before JF and you could get right up to the stage & still dance. Tab plays Lil Bear in Evergreen regularly & you can sit 20 ft. away, and dance on the sides. Better vibes too.

rev, I understand what you're saying, but I don't think you're getting my drift, honey...
I love the fais do do stage and congo... my two favorites... I don't like that Tab is in the blues tent and you can't get up and dance... but ... never mind, I don't think you're getting what I mean... the stage itself is not an insult... but considering that they won this Grammy and after fighting so damn hard for this category, if you ask ME... they should have been carried in there on the shoulders of everyone. It's about damn time that this category was recognized and this music appreciate... they won the very first Grammy so it makes it all the more special, I think and a much bigger fuss should have been made over them and it, as far as I'm concerned... do you see what I'm saying?

Maybe a little of both. I'll see Jef tonight at the Blues Music Awards. Usually he camps out at our place, but they're being held in Tunica this year so he'll get a room. Jef's been doing work for years for the NOMC, and he got caught up in a Threadhead e-mail response once when I sent him and everybody else something. Of course the reply-all function got him an inbox full of stuff that he had a hard time shaking. Jef's a great guy, an awesome photographer, and he's done lots to help renovate homes of New Orleans musicians on his own. Back when he was a hippie musician, Jef was a Dr. Demento star with his hit, "Friendly Neighborhood Narco Agent".

They should have, at the very least, maybe made a slide announcement on the jumbotrons with a picture of the band with the Grammy between sets at the jumbotron stages. Maybe even had a big banner hanging up at the Grandstand.
