I'm kicking it off on March 22 with BeauSoleil in Sellersville, PA, then March 23 with Sonny Landreth in Sellersville, then Sonny again on the 30th in Easton, MD, then Albert Castiglia in Philadelphia at Warmdaddies on the 31st. :)

holy schmokes, bluesgirl. I just checked out the near lineup at the Avalon - Rickie Lee Jones, David Lindley, Sonny, Roches, etc. I gotta start paying better attention. What an incredible, tiny venue.

A funny story - I was checking the Avalon site for the start time of the Allen Toussaint show, and that was the day that they annouced the Sonny tix on sale. I got seat AA 1. :D

Hon, you might want to check out The Arden Gild, also. It's north of Wilmington, DE. It's small and they have great shows. If the band is an act you can dance to, they move out half the chairs for the second set so that you can dance. www.ardenclub.com

That makes me jealous, we don't get such great choices out here..but how about Robert Randolph at HOB?!? that's the closest I get so far, just missed DDBB.

I've still yet to check out the Avalon. I know I'd like it. And the lineup does look awesome. It's pretty far from me which may restrict me to weekend shows. Maybe checking it out on the way to the beach.

I'd definitely like to check out the Galactic show. I've never seen Papa Mali but I just checked out the website and I'd like to.

The local show I'm actually most interested in features two of my favorite bands playing the Ramshead - Los Lobos and Taj Mahal (not Louisiana bands but favorites of mine nonetheless)

Warm up for fest up here in Detroit is going to be Buckwheat on Feb 13th and then John Boutte at the end of February. Both at nice small cool venues. Yahoo! :D

Hey Bluesgirl ... what is the name ofthat place in Easton wher Sonny is playing, I Know they've had plenty killer shows roll through there, And Ive never been ... Is it a venue that would be worth taking a special trip from Baltimore?

It's The Avalon Theater www.avalontheatre.com.

Yes, I think it would be worth your while to go to a show there. It is small (about 200, I think) and the sound is excellent. They have some pretty good places to eat over there and a nice inn across the street. You could even make it an overnight trip if you wanted.
