Thanks guys!
Paul, Katie had such a great time in NOLA she skipped school and extended her trip by 4 days!
We're still in ICU with Natalie. She has hemangiomas in her airway and they were slowly weaning her off her steroids. Just a little too much with everything else going on and the different air than she's used to . . . Started having breathing problems and they decided they needed to check her in and get her on very strong IV steroids. She's doing alright in here, can't say she loves it, but all her panels came back negative for any infections so at least we can pick her up and hold her without gloves and masks and gowns now!
They're keeping her at least 2 more days, so we'll be changing our flights home.

Amy, I know how hard this is on mom and dad. BTDT and I clearly remember how much I depended on friends and family for support during those days. Natalie is improving, she's in good care, the labs are favorable, and you and Jeff are surrounded by love.
Keep us posted, or not, as your energy and emotions allow. Regardless of your ability/energy to post, know that many folks are holding your hand through cyber-space and thoughts and prayers reach out to you all.

PapaFrog told us about your scare, and I'm so glad it wasn't more serious. Flights are no fun for babies, and having breathing issues doesn't help - but hugs are a good start.

So good to hear about Miss Nat's progress, Amy! I was so worried, but Jenn was so calm and reassuring. Right now we just want to get back to our new house and get a little settled. Just read this - so sorry for the late posting. Sending you all good karma for a fantastic trip home and safe travels!!!
Natalie is a strong little one and so glad to hear she is doing better ! Can't wait to see her for the next Fest ! (and you guys too :))
Send evil Delta a copy of Natalie's admission papers and explain that she is less than a year old. Call the executive offices and speak with someone there - they will be level headed and I am sure will not charge you $300 for each ticket.

Shoot, her breathing got worse again overnight so they went back to some iv steroids/nebulizer this morning . . . Waiting for the krewe of docs to come around on rounds to update us . . .
Anyone is welcome to make an Idaho road trip anytime, IF we ever get back there, ha!
Not only did stupid Delta charge us the extra $300 per tix (on tix that were already $580), they want another $120 a tix for us to stay in SLC more than 4 hours (makes it a "stop over"). We'll play that one by ear, we can always rent a car and drive home from there for less than that . . .

Thanks everyone! I was able to get on gmail for about 2 seconds this morning too, so saw some emails, but wasn't able to respond to any of them.
Who knows what the deal is now, it keeps changing. The ENT said yesterday maybe today, but the pediatrician said this morning definitely not today, so we're back to Monday flight, if we get out tomorrow we can relax at Jenn's til we have to go. They haven't been able to connect with our SLC docs yet either . . .

Yep, she's a Potter for sure. It's funny b/c she started out with skin darker than mine and dark hair, I thought she was going to be a mini-me, but not so far! She's 4 months old now, I think her eyes are hazel, a very dark green brown -- they're not dark brown like mine and not green like daddy's, but they may not be "set" yet. I doubt they'll get lighter though! Lucky girl got daddy's super long eyelashes!

I am sure that with all that you have to deal with there is not time to get together for dinner or a beer, but if I can do anything to help do not hesitate to call--- Matthew 801 458 7165. We might get outta here today!! They put her on a super strong oral steroid dose yesterday and she was all jacked up all day long (only napped for about 30 minutes a few times), but was breathing much better and slept 10 hours last night.
Of course the one direct flight a day from MSY to SLC (7:30am) is fully booked for Sunday and Monday, so we can't fly back til Tuesday. But that's okay, it will give us a little time to see how she fares before getting on a plane.
She's definitely feeling more like herself -- we've finally been getting some smiles again (she didn't smile for days, can't blame her).

Irma at the Zoo would be a fantastic Mother's Day -- hang in there Jeff and Amy! Not long to go now and soon you'll be winging it home. My "little one" (she's 22) is still in the hospital, no surgery yet. They're blasting her with antibiotics and if all goes well, perhaps it can be avoided. Thinking of you in the hospital and so happy Nat is back to smiling, such a good sign. :)

Mothers Day is about feeling the feeling you get when you are a momma..Not just the good times but the trials too. Look at that face and how see needs you and will forever.
My mom is gone and has been for many years. Never gets easier but I pull on all the wisdom and love no matter what comes up. Nothing like a momma and nothing like a momma's love.
Enjoy your day. Just being one has made me a better and more complete person.

They're keeping her at least 2 more days, so we'll be changing our flights home.
oh man...i've been so crazy busy and without computer at home, i just read this! i'm so sorry to hear about little natalie. good to know y'all are home now and all is better.

Very good news. We are both elated that this part of the journey is over and things have improved for the Potter family. Home is for healing.

Thanks everyone! We finally just got internet at the new house so I'm able to check the board (only had internet at work and I had to work when I was there, darn it, as I only get a few hours at a time when Natalie is sleeping!)
Anyway, big THANKS to Jenn for taking such good care of us, amazing food and nice to have a home away from home to come home to ;) Can't really complain about having a wonderful mother's day out of the hospital in NOLA!
Doc said we could try a new therapy that's been succesful at Univ of Wisc -- it's a chemo drug, but has fewer side effects than the steroids, only drawback is we'll have to go to Salt Lake once a week for injections. Lasering isn't an option as the hemangiomas in her throat are too pervasive and scarring would be too extreme; so only other option is a permanent trach tube in her throat for a few years :( Hope it doesn't come to that!
And must complain about Delta again -- they charged us 2 extra bags for 1 stroller (the "third" bag was $80) and only checked our bags to Salt Lake so we ended up having to go home with none of our stuff.
