We're planning on going to NOMA in City Park one day to check out the Rodrigue exhibit.
Is there a regular Canal Streetcar or bus that charges the regular $1.25 fare, or is everything on the 47/48 route $5.00?
And, if there is a regular fare streetcar/bus, how do you tell the difference?

I'm pretty sure the answer is yes but maybe someone else can confirm. I took buses to and from the fest for $1.25 (although not along Canal). I'm pretty sure any regular scheduled NORTA bus still runs. The $5 buses are easy to distinguish since they say "zydeco special" or something on them and there's usually a guy standing outside collecting money.
Email them and ask. They usually respond very quickly.

Per Swag's suggestion, I e-mailed NORTA. Here is their response:
Yes, you may take the regular Canal/City Park route streetcars--they only run about every forty to fifty minutes on Carrollton Avenue. All the extra cars are additional service that is bring put out--additional cars and overtime for operators.
Make sure that you board the streetcar that is not marked Zydeco Express.
Thank you for your support of public transportation.

We took the Esplanade bus from Canal and Rampart and they accepted the transit pass. This bus was not marked as "zydeco express".We were able to get off close Liuzza's.Coming home, we used the transit pass on the esplanade bus which took us back to Canal and Rampart. If you didn't have a transit pass ,you had to pay $5
