yes, it has, Jenn. tough way to go out but congrats to Chicago. We will see you in Miami. Great jobs by both Lovie Smith and Sean Payton. I just ask that the Bears do not do a remake of the Superbowl shuffle.

Right On Jen, the Saints did New Orleans proud this season, and gave a lot of hope to a city that deserves it more than any place in our country, I feel..... I hope that others watching some of the coverage will be inspired, as I was, to fly on down to New Orleans and spend some disposable income. I cant think of many places I would rather toss some of my $ around!!! First couple of rounds are on me!!! God Bless New Orleans See ya soon, Matthew

Will do, once we help Peyton Manning balance his schedule by giving him more time to do commercials :D

As much as we all had our hearts set on a victory today, the bottom line is that this team played a season beyond our wildest dreams; and they are truly heroes! What they have done for New Orleans and the region is one of the brightest and most positive things to have happened during this rebuilding process. They gave a city hope and that means more in the long run than any single victory on the field. GEAUX SAINTS!!!

Spoke my peace on the bar thread. Way to go Saints, and congrats to the Bears. Went to school at Southern Illinois University and Chicago is right up there in my top 3 favorite cities(you can guess the other two)

One helluva a run.

What a great ride it was! The Saints gave hope to so many in our favourite city and to NOLA-lovers world-wide. Congratulations to everyone in the Saints organization and to the Bears, who played well today.

So until next year...

It's really amazing how many people I know across the country were pulling for the Saints today. The Saints gave us in New Orleans a sliver of hope in a sea of despair. Hopefully by this time next year we can talk about how far both the Saints and the city of New Orleans have come, hopefully...

Unfortunately, I'm still at this point of the Kubler-Ross five stages:

Although, I'm also a bit in this stage:

And soon, I will be at the more evolved point of congratulating [grrrrrrrrr] Da Bears, their fans (and I've got two in my immediate fambly, whose calls I'm not yet taking), and Lovie Smith's achievement (which is indeed most excellent), but for now all I can say (with all my might) is:

I posted this in the Geaux Saints thread but I think it's fitting here, so forgive me if you've read it already....

What a tough game, heartbreaking.....lots of tears at the end

However, on the way home the Garth Brooks song "the Dance" popped in my head....
"I might have missed the pain, but then I'd have missed the dance"

The Saints danced beautifully this season and gave so much hope for the city. I'm so very, very proud of them.
They WILL kick ass next year....they'll be ready!

Well, the very lovely Miss C is much more evolved than I am (and nicer and sweeter to boot).

I been tearing up a bit this afternoon my own self, but I have my Ragin' Cajun to help give me some New Orleans native perspective on the whole thang and help Kitten get a smile herself.

However, I'm very happy I could share that smile with you!

thanks you guys, whenever things are really painful, I try to reflect on what it would have been like not to experience what got me to that pain point...most times, I'd never want to give up the amazing times because things turned bad or sad at the end. I hang on to those lyrics alot and they help me turn a negative into a positive. It sure helped tonight!

The Saints gave us hope when we most needed it, and did it in a communal way. Despite the stark divisions that exist here, we are a unified community in black and gold - the "Who Dat Nation". The Super Bowl really does not make that much of a difference because the Saints helped us to smile again, to dream again, and to be together again. I never really thought that professional sports could have that much of a positive effect, but what the Saints did for this community is remarkable. We are eternally grateful to Paul Tagliabue for having the vision and wisdom to make sure that the Saints stayed in New Orleans, where they belong. It has been so great to see people here excited and happy about something we can call our own and although the season is over, the hope and uplift of our spirits will carry us for a good while. It will not fix anything directly, but it has put back a spring in our step as we go forward.

GO SAINTS!

Many, many cheers to them and to their home!

Hundreds and hundreds of people waited in the rain as the team's charter plane came in last night at 1am (delayed in Chicago). Most of the fans were holding Thank You or Bless You Boys signs. It was beautiful and the players seemed a little stunned when they saw it.

Well said. The Saints have been a ray of hope in a city that hasn't had a whole lot to cheer about lately. Thank you to the Saints, and to all the Saints fans out there - you all keep the light burning brightly on our city and our struggles, and that is a true blessing.

I'm so very proud of our guys. That was one hell of a year. Disney could not have written a better feel-good story (until yesterday).

The whole thing hit it's zenith for me on Friday morning. I went to get breakfast at Loiue's. My favorite breakfast joint in BR. Reminds me a lot of the Camelia Grill in N.O.. Afterwards, I like to take a leisurely drive around the University Lakes by LSU. The migritory fowl are in from all over. It's a very peaceful ride. Lots of Nature in the middle of the city. Very good place to get herbal.

Anyway, I was listening to WWL out of N.O. to get me a Saints fix. They had a fellow in Chicago doing live reports. He came on with this up to date report: "The City of New Orleans is pulling into Union Station." That short sentence sent chills up my spine. I thought it was a metaphor descibing the fans from New Orleans arriving in Chicago. The City of New Orleans as in the fans, the heart and soul, the spirit of New Orleans. THEN I realized that he wasn't talking about the fans, it was the train itself, the train they call the City of New Orleans.

Now that's what I call "being in that number". Going to Chicago to cheer the Saints and arriving via the train they call the City of New Orleans. It was too cool.

I emailed WWL with this idea. The team will be home long before the fans get back to the train station in NO. It would be nice if the team MET THEM at the station. Now that would be off the charts.

There is a common feeling amounst Saints fans when a season ends: "Wait till next year." It was always mostly tongue in cheek. It sort of rings true this time, "Wait till next year."

I just posted this article by Chris Rose about the NFC Championship game in the thread dedicated to his writings, but thought I would also post it here in case folks haven't explored that thread - if you have, please forgive the redundancy:

As always, he puts such great perspective on things and in the just the right way.

This ending to the season is bittersweet, but there is hope for next year, along with admiration and respect for the great way the Saints played this whole season that almost didn't happen ("they're moving to San Antonio," "the Superdome will never be used for sports again," etc.) - not to mention love for the positive joy and entertainment they gave us and New Orleans.

As Chris wrote, "Good on Ya" - good on ya, Saints indeed.
