The forecasters had a slight miss today, when they said the showers would be scattered.

Moderate to very heavy, but nonstop from about 2:00 on. Not quite as bad as Friday last year, but close. River Acura was flowing once again. It's gonna be muddy out there tomorrow.

We are all wet, my friend. :) We left at 3pm because last year my scooter got stuck in the mud of the track & I was worried about engine trouble. But tomorrow is another day.

Well, I don't feel so bad about leaving at 3:30. My hat is so soaked that it will take days to dry out.

I did get lucky on the way back...a family, a lawyer and his wife shared their cab with me, so I didn't have to wait for one.

I recall a couple of years ago, standing beside a gal near the path that cuts through Acura. It had r*ined the day before, and the track was still pretty muddy. She said "I can't believe how much mud there is!", and I just smiled and said: "Okay, so we've come a to a city that was just recently 6 feet underwater, and your biggest problem is that you have a little mud on your Crocs? You poor baby! Do you think you'll be okay?" Both of us just broke into laughter at the absurdity of it all...

Wear your rubber boots tomorrow..forecast is for Heavy Rain. But, that's never stopped the fun before, IMO. Here are a couple of radar links for you guys to check in the morning before you go:

http://radar.weather.gov/ridge/Conus/full_loop.php

http://www.srh.noaa.gov/ridge/radar.php?rid=LIX&product=NCR&overlay=11101111&loop=yes

On the second link, if you press on the radar screen, it will zoom in..this is the one I use when seeing how the weather is right at the Fairgrounds.

Hey Swag my phone got trashed too! I knew it got a bit wet but I did my best. Sure enough by tonight most of the buttons don't work. So I got several texts but don't know who they're from and can't read 'em. Ran over to Target and grabbed a GoPhone (I'm AT&T) for 20 bucks and put my SIM in it. I'm sure I'll lose half my numbers but oh well. BTW the cheapest TMobile GoPhone was $30. If you need that, call me (somehow) and let me know cause I can pick one up for you and bring it tomorrow.

Mighty wet today but had a blast anyway. Tomorrow will be a slopfest but what the hell!

Thank you Monica, 40% chance looks better than 80% as was today.
In Colorado predictions aren't any good until day prior. They'll say
sunny and 70 and then we wake up with snow.
I see that temps will be in upper 60s/low 70s in eve and breezy
and with the humidity can get chilly in eve esp it we get overcast or rain.
Look for the silver lining and plan for the tent we can all cram into incase.
We'll keep an eye on it the closer we get Monica.

And when he got to the end of it I thought he said, "your biggest problem is that you have a little mud on your crotch." I just figured wow Ross is a bold guy and I laughed any way. Swag - if its not better by now - go out and buy some uncooked rice - put the phone and the rice in a ziplock bag or other closable container. the rice will "suck out" the wetness. Works in almost all but the most extreme situations.

Day-um! It never ceases to amaze me the useful info I learn from this group! Wayyyyy cool!

This is exactly why, if I can't do 10 days, I do the 2nd weekend. There is no way I could leave with Fest still going on.

Really does work, it did the trick for my IPOD after a water bottle spilled on it!

Terrance Simien has inspired me! So I am practicing using my toes to toss beads at my friends' heads! We'll see how well I can balance on one foot after a couple dinks! LOL (wondering if there'll be video cameras?? )

Note to self - think up something clever to sign on Bluesbaby's cast.

I visited the bjamns last night for a bit, and scored the ziplock and the rice from them. I did feel a bit odd walking into Tips afterwards with this baggie full of a strange white substance, but luckily, security there is pretty light...

There was a small group of die-hards at Billy Joel: me, NOLA, Sista NOLA and her friend . . . we had a great time dancing and splashing to Billy's classics! Woo Hoo!! :D

Wading back to the car was an adventure though - thank Buddha I didn't ride my bike yesterday!!! (and I won't be today either) ;)

kitten,... ya' didn't mention that you were stayin' all the way through heck (HECK,.. ain't that lightening) and highwater... good for you girl.....

very froooooont row just left of center for the entire time for our lil' band of neva' say dies...... man o shevitz those there buckets of h2o were comin' in sideways most of the time,.. the poncho thing didn't keep a single thing dry.... soaked to the bone and beyond... nothin' left to do but keep on laughin' and dancin',. and singin'... seemed like the best three choices at the time,.. oh yeah drinkin' came in a real solid fouth,.. every tip of the elbow had a water chaser though....

and gettin' out of the fairgrounds through the knee high stuff was an adventure in and of itself...

have to say that eddie bo at the fais-do-do was an absolute classic in the light misty stuff that gave hints of the main rain dance yet to come...

thankfully joel started early... it sure felt like they got their whole set in....

It was great to meet you, ZK...if only for a minute. You have some great lungs on you, by the way. A lot of power in the whooping it up you were doing...I was impressed. :D

I just didn't have enough time to spend with everyone to assuage any apprehension my bored persona may have created. Perhaps next year...

I must admit, though, that there was a small group of threadheads who recognized me and introduced themselves warmly (present company included). It was very cool and made me wish I was going to be around for the daze between.

We bailed around 5:00 ...Wondering who was hard core enuf to stay? Did any one see Billy Joel??

I stayed for the whole day and ended up at the Lagnaippe Stage (with Juls and Chris Joseph) for Paul Sanchez - small but very enthusiastic crowd - the place was under water - the sidewalk bricks were actually floating - set started out great - then they gave him the high sign and cut him off after 4 or 5 songs.

Yup, we stuck it out in our cheapass ponchos - totally worth it! We saw the last 1/2 of Billy Joel - he sounded great - but the best moment was when he swiped a couple inches of standing water off the Steinway Grand he was playing -- thought I was gonna pass out! Anyhow - people kept the spirits up and it was an unforgettable experience to be out there in that much rain.

Yeah, there was some lightning besides just the thunder that had been booming all day -- that cut stuff short. Billy Joel, too.

Yes we stuck it out right to the end. We went to Jazz Fest 2008 for Billy and it was such a shame it rained as it did.

The next day we were rewarded with front row standing to see Elvis Costello and Allen Toussaint. Wonderful. Pity the camera has ceased to function the previous day.

The whole two days we were at the Fairground were amazing. Thank you NO for making it a special week for me and my lady.

We hung in there too but at the Blues Tent. We had planned to see James Cotton and got there as the previous set was letting out. Got great seats and stayed for the Ponderosa Stomp Revue. Great stuff being dry but nothing could save us the walk out. Wet be man we had a ball walking all the way to the quarter!!! Met some great peeps who shared their porch for awhile, beers and burnables too. We had great fun in the weather. :D
