No contest, R&B easy over Tip's. Tip's used to be THE place back in 1978 when I started going to Jazzfest. First of all, Prof. Longhair was still alive, you could drink a beer with him instead of looking at a bust. It was integrated. Now its all young white kids. When the present ownership took over in the early 80s, it went from the world capital of sex, drugs & Rock'n roll to just another boring music venue, with a bunch of passive listeners standing around clutching their beers. No dancing, nuttin
Rock'n Bowl is happenin', especially if you're a zydeco dancer. Everybody is actively involved in the party, John & his staff totally get it as to having fun.
However, if you're one of those beer clutching "stand & gawkers", PLEASE stay away on zydeco nites!!!

Plus RNB may be the new home of the Tulane Women's Bowling Team set to begin competition next year. I haven't heard where they plan to have their home games but seems perfectly logical to me. ;)

For sure - RnB is one of my favorites! My brother came to visit a couple of years ago (we went to see Tab Benoit there) and he couldn't believe you could bowl and listen to world class live music at the same time. Kinda freaked him out. ;)

Yea, its cool
At the Maple Leaf, they used to have a laundramat (One washer, one dryer). You could do laundry while listening to James Booker, greatest pianist known to mankind.
