Damn... I would feel down right unpatriotic now if I even thought of not voting for the pig sammich.
Luckily, this is not a problem because, once again, as we all know---
PORK FAT RULES!

I think the next set of brackets may be the Fest-of-the-Past competitors that are now gone, like the Redfish BBQ Oyster Salad, the HOB Stage, and the Mo Fest, but mostly so we all get a chance to vote for the Cracklins!

Yes, and he still is! He was in a lot of his father's films, like Big Jake , The Searchers and Green Berets. And apparently he was offered the role of Superman in 1978! (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Patrick_Wayne)
Mic, you're killin', man!!!! I hope you don't mind, but I just had to add something to your 'delaware' poster:

Not only is it the best food booth at the fest (combined with the fried eggplant and crawfish sauce - which if it was ever put on pasta would top monica all by itself),.. but now it doubles as a college level course in Art Appreciation....................
I start every day at the fest with the eggplant dish,.. it's an incredible blend of tastes and textures....

That eggplant dish is a highlight indeed. Last year, with all the press, including the big NPR story, the Couchon de Lait sold out a couple of times before the end of the day...but that eggplant was still available. Another time we were in line when they ran out bread for the po boys. Quite a few people stormed away...but the rest of stayed for the best pork salad I've ever had.
Here's my favorite lurking Art Lover enjoying her first couchon of fest:

Wait a minute...Hold the outrage...I did nothing shameful...this is a board about Jazz Fest...not just about threadheads. Besides myspace, I went to three other boards: Pet De Kat (where Swag had already been) and nicely promoted the tournament at two NOLA Foodie sites. See above thread.
The "food fight" has been all in fun and I'm guessing that Swag meant this as treat for us regulars as well as a promotion for all good things fest related. Actually, the idea of having the Food Booths and Stages slug it out is a super advertisement...I think the Fest should team up with Swag and put out a press release if he does it again!
As for my myspace.com bulletin....where most of my friends are bands and musicians that I like....
Here it is
Over at the New Orleans Jazz Fest Chat Board, there is a The Great Jazzfest Tournament Bracket ! ( go to http://www.bracketmaker.com/tmenu.cfm?tid=197946) It's like March Madness, only about Jazz Fest Favorites, including some of the best known stages and food booths. The polling has been going on for a couple of days, but it not too late to join in. This thread has much more detail:[http://www.nojazzfest.com/chat/showthread.php?t=494
You will have to join the site to be able to post or participate in the polls.
(I'm glad that musicians are not being ranked against each other...for us fans those choices are tough enough to make when 10 stages are filled with incredible performances. )
If you are also a fan of the Food booths at Jazz Fest, you should know that right now the SoftShell Crab Po Boy booth is duking it out with the Crawfish Monica empire after each won their first round. Now I like Crawfish Monica, even though the pasta is overcooked. But in terms of festival food, the SoftShell Crab Po Boys at Jazz Fest are at another level entirely. But SoftShell is currently behind and so I am calling for the SoftShell Crab Po Boy Nation to come forth and vote with us at this link
http://www.nojazzfest.com/chat/showthread.php?t=574
In any case, accept my belated New Years Wishes for more love, music , friendship (and good food!) in all of your lives. These days, if one is looking for Peace and Understanding, music is one of the few places to find it. And so, to those of you who carry that vision as part of your message, I want to say thank you as well....Michael
Of course, I had one more follow-up to the Myspace Group called "ThreadHeads"...hope that is all right with you.
As for making up names, I haven't THAT much at stake here that I would cheat...and I know that Amy wouldn't...(she won't even take advantage of being a volunteer to get a quick poster.)
Sheesh...it's not like I found the home board of the Pork Industry and asked them to come and pull it out for "The Other White Meat" <evil grin>

Crawfish ain't kosher. And if it was....you couldn't eat it with milk.
But yes...it's like Les Miserables at the barricades...no one is coming to join our revolution (sigh).
Maybe we should e-mail NPR....they liked Cochon de Lait so much last year (http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=5369798), I've sure they would like to get the word out.
Amy Winette
01-22-2007, 02:07 AM
Well I'M not emailing anybody who is gonna help the piggies! :)
And yeah, I really know nothing about what is kosher.
Jeff just suggested we need to get the Colbert Nation on this. Which option is more American? Hmm . . .
And Jeff hasn't voted yet, so count on one more for crawfish!!
Michelino
01-22-2007, 02:32 AM
If for some reason, they responded, I'll bet NPR would be even handed. That what they do.
But I was just joking about contacting anyone else..aka the Pork Industry....there is about as much chance of me doing that as there is of Napoleon actually showing up to deliver me a pork sammitch.
In fact, because it already Monday (!!) my campaigning here has to come to end...no more time...(well maybe my final parody poster based on a comic book cover...where Superman is in a death match with giant rotini might get done...)

mmmmm........CRACKLINS!!!!! :D
Speaking of Cracklins ... One year we were staying at the Sheraton, and were returning from a wonderful day of festing, with a big bag of Cracklins in hand. We ordered some drinks in the lobby bar for the first time of our stay. we got our bill for 2 mixed drinks, and it was like 16 dollars or something outrageous, so we secretly replaced their bar mix (snack), with cracklins, of course the bowl near the stuffiest looking blue bloods we could find.
Then we watched the expression on peoples faces when they dug into what was previously pretzels and took nice big bites of pork skin. It was funny to us
