Yet another show skipping So Cal. :(

It's unfortunate & understandable - we're a pay to play city where Metal still rules

Too bad, Chrissa.:( Keep your fingers crossed, though. Maybe something will open up on the calendar. He's playing a 500 seat auditorium here.

He played a small theater at UCLA last time .... there's still a chance.

He plays in Conroe (North Houston) in June also. His new cd are songs written by Townes Van Zandt.

I love Steve Earle (as well as his sis, Stacey). And his wife, Allison is great, too. (as well as her sis, Shelby Lynne). I guess Steve's son is now performing, but I haven't heard any of his songs, yet. I haven't heard Steve's Townes Van Zandt cd yet. Have seen Steve several times, but the last time he was here I was out of town and had to miss him. I should look at his touring schedule to see when he'll be back. It was a small venue, too, at a local college auditorium that only holds a few hundred people, so it would have been sweet to see him there. Hopefully when he comes back he'll play that venue again.

Justin Townes Earle (guitar/vocals) and Allison Moorer are both on the new cd.

Heard a song on the radio from his new release. I liked it so much, I ordered the whole CD.

Yes, the June show I'm going to wasn't announced until after I got home from Jazz Fest.

I ordered "TOWNES" in vinyl. Hope it gets here soon!
Fred, sorry I missed seeing you in the Blues Tent this year.:(
Well, there's always next year. :)

Just got my copy of "TOWNES" via Amazon. I ordered vinyl so I'm gonna go give it a spin.

Justin T. Earle's "Midnight At The Movies" arrived with it.

Thanks for telling me Steve's son's name. (and he has Townes as his middle name, too- way cool). I figured Allison would be, but didn't know Justin was). Are you a Shelby Lynne fan, too? I love that she has collaborated with Sonny Landreth as well as Raul Malo. She's got a very soulful voice, and so does Allison. Both are easy on the ears as well as the eyes!

It's cool that everything is being released on vinyl again. It makes it so much easier to read the liner notes, too!

There is an in-depth article on Steve Earl and Townes van Zandt in the current issue of Rolling Stone. As of yet, the article is not posted online.

"Midnight At The Movies" is a gem. Americana for sure, but it even has a jazzy ragtime tune included on the album.

Thank you, T.D. Looks like Mr. Earle is in fine form. Nice preview of what's to come next month. Did you happen to be close enough to see what type of pick he was using (thumb or index finger)?

The Dude

I believe it was a thumb pick...he was really nice, got to meet him afterward and we talked about his acting. He said he has a new movie coming out with Edward Norton where he plays a drug dealer.

Ty, Wynn!
Steve Earle played Townes Van Zandt's elegant "Colorado Girl." Solo acoustic; absolutely stunning performance.

S.E. seems to have an Allen Ginsburg look going on right now. :) Guess that's from living in the Village these past few years. It's okay with me; I think it looks good on him.

"Colorado Girl"~Townes Van Zandt

I'm goin' out to Denver
See if I can't find
That lovin' Colorado girl of mine

The promise in her smile
Shames the mountains tall
She can bring the sun to shinin', tell the rain
to fall

It's been a long time, mama
Since I heard you call my name
I got to see my Colorado girl again

Be there tomorrow
Mama, don't you cry
I got to kiss these lonesome Texas blues good-bye
