Excellent news that another place is opening in the city ! Any information, of course, is most welcome. I am going to add them to the in-stores grid right away - As soon as y'all get information please post in the FOR THE GRIDS thread.

I live catty-corner from the old Peaches and while it is very sad to see the store in my neighborhood gone, I'm really happy that they came back at all. That should be a great location for them.

Passed by yesterday evening as promised. It will be a small miracle if they get the place opened before fest, from the looks of it. Here is a picture, through the window (sorry about the flash glare):

You can't see into the store, but there is no product visible all the way to the back wall of the building.

this put me in a you-don't-miss-your-water-til-the-well-goes-dry mood (it won't last - we leave Wed a.m.!) about our own Tower records-books-video stores. If Peaches is all that, hopefully there's enough $$ to split between LMF and others. In the past we could go to Tower Books and pick up a copy of Offbeat - how many can say that? Well, when it's gone, it's gone, so spread that butter around! See you in line at LMF in 2 days... :)

Stopped by Peaches yesterday -- it is nowhere near ready to open. :( Just a bunch of workmen inside.

The arrival of another locally based music store, to replace some that have vanished, is great news. Fact that it's in the old Tower location is even better.
Sorry to be critical, but whoever is in charge of managing the opening of this store really screwed up big time by failing to open in time for Jazz Fest. For music retailers in NOLA, fest season (starting with FQF) is like Christmas.
With music stores everywhere operating so close to the profit margin (thank you, downloading), NOT taking advantage of the rush of music lovers in town for the fests means a huge financial loss. Had they opened in time, they could have brought in the kind of sales that would have gone a long way to help them weather the lean months between now and the start of the holiday season.
d'oh!
Still, hope they open big and stay around for a while when they get things up and running.
Meanwhile, I'll hit LMF, starting with Wednesday's in-stores.
