The grids have Shamarr listed at The Rusty Nail for "a few songs" and at Rays but this is listed as "tentative".
Which would be the best place to see him? Does anyone know for sure if the Rays gig is on for sure.

Thanks, trying to set my night time schedule. Not an easy task.

that's a good question. let me double check on that since the time is very near. His myspace says Ray's so that's what I think

I guess that doesn't happen very often, since it's hard to drop old habits.

I called him last week about his shows but he was at a gig so we couldn't talk. I just sent him a message since I haven't heard from him. Thanks for reminding me. :)

You know I'm just bugging you, amigo!

It's actually pretty funny: one of the questions our tourist board gets asked often by our friends down south is "do y'all have 4th of July up there?" "Uh yeah...right after the 3rd of July."

Well, you never know. I was sitting by the River at French Quarter Fest, and an out of towner asked me if I knew which way North was. I told them, "Oh, they don't have North here".

That cracked them up.

Then I explained the whole upriver/downriver/lakeside/riverside thing...

From what I know, he's playing the few songs at the Rusty Nail then will be playing at Ray's around 11:00. There's an opening band...Calvin from Big Sam's Funky Nation (sax player). Should be a great gig!!!! :)

We have two direction in Chicago:

Up Dere - which refers to Wisconsin, Michigan, Minnesota and beyond. You know you are "up dere" when you see snowmobiles parked outside of the bars.

Downstate - Downstate is anything sout(h) of US 30 or west of US 47. DeKalb is "downstate even though it is further nort(h) than downtown Chicago. You know you are "downstate" when you see men wearing their John Deere hats to church.

Shamarr hasn't returned my text or my call so I guess this means shows are a go as listed.
