Local Knowledge Needed for Post-Jazzfest Music

I'm coming back to New Orleans on Memorial Day weekend (should be sobered up from 'fest by then) for a convention, and was hoping to host an event at Rock n Bowl. The night I can do it, the following bands are playing:

Renard Poche
Billy Iuso
Boogaloo All Stars

I'm not familiar with any of 'em. Does anyone have any thoughts pro or con on these groups? I need to figure out whether they're cool for a middle-of-the road, academic audience. Or, we could ignore the music, drink heavily, and concentrate on bowling ;-)

I think the show sounds perfect for that kind of crowd. Basically a night of New Orleans Meters inspires funk

Maybe you could try to check 'em out while you're in town for the Fess and make up you mind that way?

My opinion is, you can't go wrong with any of 'em.

man oh shev itz,.. jus' one more mind bogglin' event,... there is jus' no end to the wonders of new orleans.....

hav' to believe that i couldn't survive bein' a local.... unless somebody has a winnin' lottery ticket they might consider sharin'....
