A lifetime domestic subscription is only $200 right now. After April 22 it will be $500.
Subscription prices to increase April 22
Our subscription prices will increase on April 22. This is the first subscription price increase since the magazine began nearly 21 years ago. The average increase is about 20%. The rising cost of postage (another increase is due in May) forced the increase. Now is the time to renew or purchase a new subscription at the lower rate!
As of April 22 our subscription prices will be:
NEW DOMESTIC 1 year $39; 2 year $60; 3 year $90.
NEW CANADIAN 1 year $45; 2 year $85; 3 year #125.
NEW REST OF THE WORLD 1 year $90; 2 year $165; 3 year $235.
RENEWAL DOMESTIC 1 year $35; 2 year $50; 3 year $75.
RENEWAL CANADIAN 1 year $40; 2 year $80; 3 year $115.
RENEWAL REST OF THE WORD 1 year $80; 2 year $155; 3 year $220.
LIFETIME, Domestic $500; Canadian $650; Rest of the World $800.
Single issues: Domestic and Canadian (except Jazz Fest issue) $6; Jazz Fest issue $10; Rest of the Word (except Jazz Fest issue) $10; Jazz Fest issue $12.
Just saw this too and was about to post it. Get those lifetime subscriptions now, folks!

I renewed yesterday for two years at $40, bargain. I hope they get it processed, I'd hate to miss the Jazz Fest bible issue.
I always get my mom a subscription for Christmas. It's what she wants the most. :)

How long has Offbeat been around? I was considering a lifetime sub- just slightly concerned about their longevity. I should have signed up years ago.

Damn, bad timing. I'd love to jump on that lifetime deal, but it's a week before Jazz Fest and I've spent all my $$ on the raffle!!!

Maybe you can get a reverse/retroactive lifetime subscription, it starts today and goes backwards. You'll continue to receive in all your past lives.

I have a lifetime subscription and wondered how they will know when I'm dead?
I saw that too. I have 6 months left on my annual, but that lifetime is looking pretty tempting.

hmm, might have to see if i can swing this before fest, well before 4/22 i guess.
quick aside: did anyone submit an answer the trivia question that was in the weekly beat this morning? "What band did Sam Bush play in primarily in the 70's and 80's?" I was right, but they already had two correct responses. the prizes were two pairs of tix to Sam's show at Tip's. already have plans that night but was just going to miracle someone with them. :)

By the time I googled Sam Bush, got the answer and submitted it, they already had the winners.

They won't, but you will, at least I think you will, and that's all that matters!

Wow, I can't believe I almost missed this.
I've signed up for lifetime; I figure if I outlive the magazine, I'll just consider myself lucky. ;)

Wow...they charge? I always thought they were free. You mean I have a bootlegging possibilty...Get them for free at the bars and then sell them through the mail for a discount price. Nah that would be wrong!

Are Offbeat's still available for free around town? Missed the last 2 fests but never had a problem picking one up as soon as got to town (along with a dozen Ersters and an Abita!)

How come no response? Not that tough a question. Did I say something wrong?

Yup, still free around town, but a subscription helps support the mag, which is THE source, after all!

Thanks Nola. That's kinda what I expected to hear. Offbeat is a great source of info and I will certainly subscribe.
