American Routes host Nick Spitzer will talk about music and work with musical tradesmen Friday at 8 p.m. at the Sound Café (2700 Chartres St.). He'll be talking to Don Vappie, finish carpenter/piano player Eddie Bo (pictured), tinsmith/trumpeter Lionel Ferbos, sax player Alonzo Bowen and plasterer Earl Barthé. The event is sponsored by the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Community Partnership Grant program and part of a Center for Black Music Research conference on the black music diaspora that is being hosted by the Music Department of Xavier University on Saturday, April 19.
