Here's my answer from NORTA (take note of her name). The RTA offers two types of VisiTour Passes:
1 DAY : $5.00 & 3 DAY : $12.00

Here's the link of where to purchase http://norta.com/passes/buyvisitourpass.php

Chrissa,

Thanks for doing that but I would feel a little more comfortable with the answer if it specifically referred to the Zydeco Special busses.....Sorry if that seems a little too anal. :)

I called this am, and i can confirm they will work on the Zy Express busses/streetcar. They actually checked and called me back with confirmation. There is no 91 bus on fest days(at least during fest hours).
Ive never used these passes. She said a "day" is a calendar day, not 24 hours, fwiw.
So, this is a good alternative, and great if you are using tranportation to any other locations during that period.

yay! this is good news even if it's just for the ride back in the evening. Thanks again for following up and gettin' the straight scoop.

The passes are like a scratcher. When you get it, scratch off the date you are using the pass. It's really convenient and keeps the lines moving.

It's pretty quick in the AM too especially if you're going early for Bloody Marys (or breakfast bevy of your choice!).

So, if your in town for 6 days, you could buy 2- 3 day passes. Dont scratch/use the second till day 4?

Yup. Although, on non fest days transpo is $1.25 each way so the passes really only make sense for fest days. We'll buy (1) One Day & (1) Three Day for 2nd Weekend. $17.00 - very good deal this year.

the NORTA stuff says they have to be consecutive days -

To validate your pass, scratch off the month and day(s) you will be using it. On the three-day pass, make sure you select consecutive days. Your VisiTour Pass is not good until you validate it.

This'll keep me from getting the chewing-out I got once using a Eur-rail pass :)

Thank you both so much for thinking of and following up on this. Two $12 passes will save a considerable amount of money! One thing that's too good to be true, but still is. :)

So how does one validate said VisiTour pass?

As soon as you scratch a date, it is validated. It has to be three days in a row unless, of course, it is a one day pass. ;)
