You need to update your list. The Dream Palace closed ages ago and is now the Blue Nile. Red Room closed about 5 yrs ago, but they did have a couple shows two years ago during jazz fest, but under another name. Kemp's also closed years ago, however, it is/was not a very safe neighborhood (and I don't usually say that about any part of the city.) I also miss Tip's Warehouse as it was right around the corner from my hotel. The Praline Connection on Tchoup is now the new Howlin Wolf. The Shim Sham is now One-Eyed Jack's. Funky Butt is also no longer. Not sure that the Dragon's Den re-opened post K? There is an underlying reason why OZ has great club music.
A few others worthy of mention:
Parasol's
Mayfair Lounge
Snake & Jakes
Cooter Brown's
The Ugly Dog
Rusty Nail (previously Mermaid Lounge)
Parkway Tavern (best post-fest crawfish berl)
Saturn Bar
Hi-Ho Lounge
Dos Jefes
R.I.P. Circle Bar

Dragons Den did reopened, but I don't know how much they are booking these days. Who knows, maybe they closed again.
R.I.P. Circle Bar
Circle Bar is open, alive and well. Rumors of its passing are greatly exaggerated!

2 other good ones
Erin Rose- 811 Conti Street- In the Quarter but any extremely laid back vibe. A good break from the mayhem
Ryans Irish Pub- 241 Decatur Street. Great Sports bar, have always met some fun people there.

I thought I saw that it was open last month when I was in the city.

That's the best news I've heard in a long time. It is my favorite after hours bar in the city.

I usually catch the 1st round of the NFL draft at Ryan's every Jazz Fest. One of the few FQ bars that I like.

Don't forget Mimi's in the Marigny! 2601 Royal St. @ Franklin. One of the coolest spots in town with interesting people hanging out on two spacious floors with GREAT music. Mimi's has the vibe Frenchmen Street used to have 6 or 7 years ago.
They're open 'til 5am during fest serving strong dinks and tapas. Easy cab ride from the Quarter or walking distance from Frenchmen Street. Great place for that final final final! :D

Jimmy's is gone, too, isn't it? One of my early regrets about being mortal was on the first Thursday of my first Jazzfest and, after a wonderful night spent at the Carrolton Station songwriter's showcase with Spencer Bohren and others, my wife and I walked outside at 2:30 a.m. to catch a cab and then heard the most amazing, rippin', slide guitar coming outta Jimmy's. It was George's Runnin' Partners - I really, really, wanted to go in, but we were absolutely toast and had to call it a night. My kingdom for a redbull! I still don't know who that guitarist was and it bugs me to this day... and that's why I plan to not sleep anymore during fest. :)

Very true. I was there within the last two weeks.
Also worth noting, for your very late Uptown night drinking needs: the Saint at St Mary and Hastings, (St Mary one block riverside of Magazine St). Open 8 pm to dawn, approximately.

Oh - it's there! I was just nearby tonight at another another bar I would add to this list: Turtle Bay on Decatur . . . ask for Adrian if you go in, she's a great bartender :).

Can someone talk about the Hi-Ho? Some of the shows listed during Fest are a jamband fan's wet dream... well, smaller-scale wet dream anyway! If the place is really special, I like to check it out, or maybe just take in a set and then motor on to something that you can legitimately only see in town.
And I'm wondering if I can trust myself not to get all geeky at Flanagan's Pub if former mega-bike designer J.T. Nesbitt is bartending. What can I say? I'm obsessed with one day owning a Confederate Hellcat or Wraith!

The Ho is well...the Ho. I would cab it out there and back. St Claude can be sketch late night. I would check a set there if I were you.
Flanagans! Best Onion rings!
Love all the Decatur Bars... Abbey, Turtle Bay, Mollys, Aunt Tikis, Dervish, BMC(the Old Matador)
Dragons den is Alive and doing quite well.
Cafe Brasil is no more though it opens on occasion for certain events. Now a part of it is Yuki a Sake bar and Lazziza a bar/pizza place that has good bands.

I second the Mimis vote...Great spot! And Mimi is great Also if you can get down to Bacchanal in the Bywater please stop. Wine store/entertainment. And the owner and his wife (a great playwrite/actress/allaround character) were in a terrible auto accident that resulted in the death of another great guy. Chris and Otter were both injured pretty severely and could use all the help they could get!
Sadly, Jimmy's is closed. :(
Last show I saw there was Dark Star Orchestra
