This is a pretty good list of the more "developed" interesting places in NOLA.
The Top of the Mart, though, is no longer open. Last incarnate as "Ray's over the River," it took a pretty good beating from the Thing. I haven't found any reference to it re-opening. It was a great view from up there. Maybe one of the locals has an update??

Maggie, new avatar is great. it almost shows your aura. maybe i cant see it, but i can feel it.

i confess i didnt read the whole list.
but i totally concur that the Top of the Mart - World Trade Center – check out the view at dusk, is one of the best secrets around.
we went in the late 80's. when we got off the elevator wearing shorts and tees, we started to leave. it was so nice and we thought we were underdressed. (since have learned that is rarely a problem in NOLA).
the maitre d' came over and asked if we'd like to be seated. how cool. the seating area rotates and you get a 360 degree view of the city as the lights come on (we happened to be there at dusk). we had wine and a cheese plate. very reasonable considering the ambiance.
i have recommended this to folks over the years, but its been so long, i'd almost forgetten.

How sad, replied to Maggie before i saw your post.

hmmm.....my favorite things to do, non food or drink huh?

Well,
#1 is spending time on Ibjamn's patio just catching up and chilling! Then I like to bum around the quarter, go for a carriage ride, hit a daquiri shop, window shop, go to Cafe Du Monde and tip the street performers and shop at Sterling Sylvia. Swamp Tours are cool...hitting LMF is good for 1/2 a day too.
I really want to do the Backstreet Museum though.....ugggh....

I can't wait to show my girls, both born in NOLA, the touristy sites like a cool carriage ride and a river boat cruise. My first time in NOLA, I took a riverboat cruise and they were playing Rockin Dopsie Jr. I'm like...who's that...bought the tape (yes tape) and was hooked ever since on the NOLA music scene.

Ray's on the River is there and consists of several upper floors... went to a fancy coorporate event for hubs work a few months back. There is Club 360 now that is an 18+ dance club now. The site advertises a Happy Hour that sounds like it would be nice

Holy cow. Looked thru your list, and I have only done one of them (the Mint). I guess I have some stuff to add to my to-do's.

I'm very fascinated with Haunted New Orleans. I posted just a few of the most haunted locations. Lafitte's blacksmith shop and Lafitte's Guesthouse can be added. Did you ever hear the story of the family that made andouille and the husband pushed the wife into the vat and made sausage out of her? He got busted when they found her wedding ring in the sausage.

Seriously though if you love history you should check out these:"

Beauregard-Keyes House - 1113 Chartres (haunted)...must do tour
Hermann-Grima House - 820 St. Louis (largest courtyard, Georgian arch., haunted...must do tour)

They show quarter life in two different time periods.

Hey, you've got me hawking your goods. I must have told 10 people about you during the remainder of my stay and passed out at least five brochures. Did anyone show up claiming they were strong-armed by some sunburned guy to come see you?

I thank you for it Mr. Muff! No one came in with a twisted arm, but there's hope!

Threadheads have been amongst my biggest supporters! I appreciate all that they do for me!:D

Where is the Ogden Museum?

The Ogden Museum is right across Camp Street from the CAC....925 Camp St.

I would say that they have some glass art from a certain TH, but another TH might think that the other TH was promoting himself!;) :p :D

This is prolly on of those you have to be there posts to get just how damn much fun it is but every time we are there with the kids we eat supper on the balcony of the Cajun Cabin and the kids drop one dollar bills with just the right amount of crinkle to the ground every so often. We call it the dollars from heaven game. The reactions are hysterical...you woulda thought it was 100's or something. We have so many laughs doing it and have not been caught yet.:D

Another favorite is to take pictures of the kids in front of the Cornstalk fence at 915 Royal and see how much they have grown over the last year.
