....Sat and Sun...to share cab to Fest. The cab is the way to go. With 2 or more, costs same or less than $5 City Bus fare to Fest. See Swag's editorial comment on this subject at www.swag.com, including tips re return trip.

Well, it's 3 or more. And the website is www.swagland.com.
And I've been to enough Jazzfests and stayed out late at night enough times to know, the best laid plans to be ready to roll at 10 am often seem to crumble in the face of 5 hours sleep and a snooze alarm. But whatever time you are ready to go, look for friendly festers to cab-share with.

Sounds like a plan to me Terry. In fact, if you want to share some cabs prior to that, I'll be there sometime Weds afternoon. Thinking I might hit Dagos if I can get there before they stop serving lunch at 4. Oh....and I know that's Not a cabride. :)

Hey Terry, I'm at the HIFQ too -- quite likely I'll be there by 10 am. Only thing is I'll be going to Liuzza's except for the first Friday when I'm going to the main gates to pick up my Brass Pass.
And THEN walk over to Liuzza's! ;)

Years ago, when I first looked into it...
swag.com sold snowboard equipment.
swag.org was the Southwest Assembly of God.
And swag.net sold the nastiest looking gay sadomasochistic scatological porn tapes you could imagine.
I used to wonder if the Assembly of God faithful ever typed in .net by mistake :o

Jane and I will be there as well, except for the first Sunday when we'll take in a brunch at Elizabeth's.

Honestly, I don't do a whole lot of late night shows. During Fest, I'm usually off Frenchmen St around 3 or 3:30, sacked out around 4am, and sleep till 10. That's a solid 6.

I believe that the WWOZ will call for Brass Passes is at the Sauvage Street Entrance. This is an excerpt from an e-mail I received from WWOZ about picking up the passes:

I'll be around first weekend, and I'll have a car. I'd like to head out a little earlier than that, since I have no clue where I'm going to park. As nice as the Cabrini folks are, I just can't bring myself to pay $30 to park my car for 8 hours. I may follow my own suggestion and drop folks off near Liuzza's and ride the shuttle. The only problem is then I'll miss out on the pre-fest gathering. I might miss one morning to eat at Elizabeth's on the weekend, but we'll see.

I don't see why not. We were first going to do Mr B's, but that doesn't start until 11:00. Send an email to Chas35 at GSINET dot NET, so we can firm up the arrangements.

On the other hand, will you be around the second weekend as well? The reason is that Jane would still like to hit Mr. B's brunch as well and the first Sunday works better for a late brunch for us.

I know what your sayin Corona. I never get 5 hours sleep in New Orleans at Jazz Fest, always see the sunrise. I usually take a nap at Jazz Fest somewhere, then I feel great.

I'm not trying to upstage the taxis or get any money. I just think it's silly to drive to the Fest from the Holiday Inn by myself while passing a bunch of our crowd standing in the lobby.

Several years ago, before Elizabeth's changed hands, they were not open on Sunday (and I think, Monday). Might want to give them a call about any Sunday plans.

We won't be there for anything other than Thursday for the second weekend... but don't let that stop ya! If Mr. B's is best for you the first weekend, then do it, Chas! Everyone is flexible for fest!

5 hours rest for ten days
I hear ya! I work 7 days and then am home 7 days. I often tell people I have to go to work to rest. They think I am kidding but I have seen weeks at home where for one reason or another I got like an average of 2 hours sleep a day. And that is just a "nothing much going on week"

We're going to opt for Mr. B's that first Sunday because of their not opening until 11:00. I think we'll head to Elizabeth's that first Saturday. I keep forgeting they have brunch on Saturdays.
