My name is Ross and I am a Canadian. I haven't seen the Sun for a very long time, and certainly not to the extent that i could shed a layer or two of clothes and enjoy it.

In the upcoming days and weeks, you will be exposed to bright white flesh devoid of any tan lines or pigment. While alarming at first, I assure you that you are not in any danger, nor is this condition contagious.

Most importantly, DO NOT stare directly at the flesh - permanent harm could result. If you absolutely must stare, please follow these precautions:

1. Wear protective eyewear at all times. Polarized is best, but any lens that blocks out the pasty whiteness will do just fine.

2. If you see the white turning to red, do not be alarmed. It's just Gawd's way of letting you know that you should turn your head and immediately avert your eyes. And remember: redliness is next to Gawdliness.

3. Please don't laugh or point. It's rude, and it hurts.

4. If you must laugh and point, please ensure that your other hand is free to present me with the beer I'll require to cool down the burns on my back. It's only fair.

Thank you for your attention, and I now return you to your regularly scheduled programming.

ROTFLMAO! Reminds me of a group of guys from up Nawth that we saw last year, applying sunscreen to each other. One wrote something not nice across the back of the another as a finishing touch and when we saw them a few hours later, he had the equivalent of a temporary tatoo!

Brings new meaning to the phrase, "watch your back."

Enjoy our warm sunshine!

Bon Fete!

Ross,

Jergens and Hawaiian Tropic have a product that will tan you naturally and gradually. It takes about a week or applying it everyday, but your skin will be so soft and smooth that you will have to chase the wimmin folk away. I recommend trying it out. At least you can use it to spare the rest of us from looking at pasty white skin.

I've found Coppertone Sport suncreen to be a life saver! Put it on before I leave for the fairgrounds and it works all day. I've used it since '02 and not a single burn in all those days on the grounds.

But you do have to remember to put it on the tops of your feet, etc. :)

Damn, no wonder you're so white! The only thing more protective would be a thin layer of plaster of Paris!

I actually use a 30 spf Coppertone for kids because I love the smell. It smells like coconuts, and now all of my fave Jazzfest shirts have that smell, even after hundreds if washings. Everytime I put them on I get this Pavlovian reaction...a nice Jazzfest glow all over again! :>)

That's one of the problems with solo festing: making sure you're covered all over in lotion. I usually use a spray bottle type, but if that damned Halle would just agree to leave the baby with the nanny for the week, I wouldn't have that problem...

Clinique makes a great 50 spf creme too... I use it as does Abbie. They also make a line of spf for the face and a stick for the lips/eyes, etc. Really great stuff. I can't tan... to hell with the Italian and Native American blood... I'll be arriving looking pretty pale considering where my home is (Key West)! But....I have to work here....so I'm inside 8 hours a day, and on weekends, I just chill and do nothing...much needed rest, but I'm inside a lot. However, I get my tan in New Orleans....and fast! Outside for both weekends of fest....and on the other days I walk a lot all around the Quarter and elsewhere. I should be looking like a lobster in no time. I do have one more weekend before I leave....so I might arrive with a Florida tan after all. Sun is strong this far south....and 45 minutes will give you some nice color. Sunscreen is a necessity at fest and if you do a lot of walking in N.O.......newbies, put it on your list for sure.:D Even Key West is experiencing a late season cold front....delightful today....low humidity, crisp and cool. After this, there's not a prayer for any cool weather till well into November.

Be careful when you use this Jergen's Tanning lotion stuff Ross...you may end up with pieces parts becoming tan that probably should not be if you reach for the wrong lotion bottle in the heat of the moment.

I've heard of Farmer's tan...I wonder what this kind of tan would be called? Wanker Tan? Spanker Tan? The rest of you...please...offer up some suggestions, maybe we can get it added to the Urban Dictionary.

Ha, ha! Another Threadhead match?? LOL!

I use that Jergins Natural Glow stuff. It's great. The only thing I have to remember is that I still need sunscreen, even tho I LOOK tan. Got my packing list about half done. SPF 35 is in there!

This Jergens stuff really works, then? I'll pick it up today on the way back from my pedi/mani/hair appt.

Forcing myself to think of baseball...baseball...baseball...baseball...baseba ll...

did you see that the Jays/Rangers went into 14 innings last night? MY GAWD, I was dying here, watching that!

You've got a diamond
You've got nine men
You've got a hat and a bat
And that's not all
You've got the bleachers
Got 'em from spring 'til fall
You got a dog and a drink
And the umpire's call
Waddaya want?
Let's play ball!

Is that a fly ball
Or is it a seagull
Coming in from the lake
Just to catch the game?
It's the last inning
Our guys are winning
Dave's put down a smoker
A strike
And you've got no doubt
(You're out!)
Waddaya want?
Let's play ball!

Okay (okay)
Blue Jays (Blue Jays)
Let's (Let's) Play (Play) Ball!

It's a beautiful evenin', fans
At the ballpark
When the game starts
Warm summer breezes
Sun's goin' down
And it's all dark
At the ballpark
But that's okay…it's a night game

Okay (okay)
Blue Jays (Blue Jays)
Let's (Let's) Play (Play) Ball!

Okay (okay)
Blue Jays (Blue Jays)
Let's (Let's) Play (Play) Ball!

Bring on the White Sox
Bring on the BoSox
Bring on the Brewers
The Rangers and the Yankees too
We'll beat the Indians
We'll beat the Tigers
We'll beat the A's so bad it'll make
Billy blue
Waddaya want?
Let's play ball!

Okay (okay)
Blue Jays (Blue Jays)
Let's (Let's) Play (Play) Ball!

Okay (okay)
Blue Jays (Blue Jays)
Let's (Let's) Play (Play) Ball!

BTW, when you use this stuff.....I highly recommend using wet naps to wipe off the lotion from the palms of your hands and whatever other body parts **blush*** you don't want to be tanned. Then you gotta stand around for a few minutes nekked to let it dry before putting on clothes, b/c it will stain clothing if you're not dry yet when you get dressed.

You are sooo right...it can get everywhere....must be careful.... And have to dry off....

This is my official biorhythm for first weekend:

It is also beneficial to seek out the company of other enthusiastic people. Being around those who are positive and enthusiastic is equally stimulating and invigorating. And as this process is contagious, even more beneficial and creative energy comes your way.

okay, I went to CVS, they had the L'Oreal Sublime Glow Daily Moisturizer, they had it on sale, buy one, get on free, so I bought that and the face one (both were $9.99) and the Jergen's was on sale for $7.99, but I got two for one, so an even better deal... and I'll be darn...It really does work! I actually have a bit of color on my extremely ghostly white body! (Yes, I know, fat does look better tan and I can't really tan, so this is it!) I'm actually pretty pleased!

Aint it cool? The Jergins looks natural and it really only takes a couple days to see a nice difference. Every day for 2 weeks and you will be bronzed! I don't even mind the tan-in-a-can 'funk'. It is not as bad as it used to be...they have made lots of improvements in sunless tanning lotions these days.

one little problem: a few years back i used the lotion stuff and got a tint of color. easy, looked good. cool, a tan without skin damage. but then it got a little moist at fest so i wore my really cool calf height rubber boots (with the big yellow & red lips - quite eye catching). only problem was it then got warm that day, and sweat combined with the boots being snug in a few spots caused my tan to look like a giraffee. luckily it happened on sunday, and i spent monday around the pool evening up my color the old fashioned way.

Take a deep breath, hun. It'll be OK. The lotion goes on your BODY. You can put it on your face if you chose, most women don't need to do that, since they wear base makeup which provides the color they need to look tanned.

Barb, I once experienced a situation when there was some streaks due to me not paying attention when I put the lotion on, and I didn't do it evenly. I found that a loofa pad and warm water will blend in the streaks and splotches on any 'boo boo's'.

it was way more than streaks or blotches. i had a straight line around the top of both calves where the boot tops had run. then been patches on my shins and back of my calves - looked like a pigment condition. i did use a loofa to help remove some of the remaining color. a day in the real sun and i was fine.

The kid next door works at Hollywood Tans (my youngest used to manage it) and she kept telling me to come to the salon and tan, well, with my meds, I just can't do that... and I thought her mom looked more orange than tan. I'm tickled with this... I doubt I'll use it every day, but this is really cool!

Well... the first time, I got papa to do my back and he sort of got carried away... giving a man the job of putting moisturizer on ya can be dangerous... enjoyable but dangerous. I've got a streaky part on my leg, but what the hell? If I missed putting spf on me, I'd have streaky parts too. The past two times, I told him he didn't have to do my entire back, but I did my arms and legs and boob area.... not like being naked in a tanning booth.

that is sooooo easy. ready.?

go to photobucket
create an account - it's free- they don't spam you - it rules

upload the pics

when you are finished adding them to your album -size them so that they are fit for a website/board (it will give you a drop down list under the resize option) surf back over here (using another tab in your browser)

start a new message

Go to photobucket and click the last option for links - copy it. (you will do this for each picture)

come back here and paste it in the message (it will be code [IMG="http:// etc

you can paste up to 5 images in a single post - without smiley faces and all that
