Last Friday the DDBB came to my hometown. I was on edge as my mom was in surgery and it was running late and we had not heard news. 8, 8:30, 9pm passed and all sorts of horrible thoughts went though my head. The phone rang and I got the news that she was out of surgery and doing well. I packed a bowl jumped in the truck and headed over to the Mystic Theater just as the band was coming on. Within 60 seconds, I was a dancing foo, not a care in the world about how goofy I may have appeared. Just so happy to A. know that moms was ok and B. have this great funky music washing all over me. Rarely have I enjoyed a show this much. The DDBB were clearly having a blast and you could feel the love being batted back and forth. Of course Roger Lewis did his "I'm a dirty old man and I want to spank someone" tune and many willing ladies offered themeselves up.
To cap it off, this is why NOLA music is so popular and widely appreciated. It helps you deal with the good and the bad sometimes simultaneously.
I'll be flying ot NOLA a week from today, will see you all there even if I don't know you. I'll be the one with the Mississippii wide grin on my face.
BTW, (I love you Mom)
