I am going to be staying at the Sheraton this year for two weeks and have not stayed there before,I have read trip advisor reviews but would love some threadhead input, especialy in regard to if any specific rooms are noisy and if the curtains keep the light out etc.I know that the location is good and that the fest bus leaves from out the front.
Last year I stayed at Le Pavillon which was excellent but a long walk from some of the Qtr clubs.

Sheraton has a lovely pool & hot tub area - it's huge! Can I come over? :) I had an accessable room and it was huge also. If you ship anything there, they will charge you ($29 I believe mine was) upon checkout for "guest services" although they don't tell you that when you call to see if it's okay. The front desk staff was very friendly and efficient. Think they gave me a $15 credit because my first coffee maker didn't work. That's about all I remember. Think you'll like it.

I've stayed there three or four times including two Jazzfests.
I'll trade hotels!

Drapes keep the light out. Don't recall any noize except closing doors.
The beds are amazing.

Avoid staying near an elevator or ice machine.

There is a "charbucks" in the lobby.

One fest, I arrived late and they were out of regular rooms. The staff put me up in the penthouse for the evening.

Nice hotel, the best beds I have had in a while. As I recall from last year the parking is sorta pricey and we were double charged for a couple things. Look over your bill carefully.

I've stayed there. It's a nice hotel, but seems to get a bit overwhelmed by crowds at Fest time (evevator crowds, concierge lounge service, etc).

If you will have lounge access, either as a Sheraton elite-level frequent guest or a paid concierge room rate, make sure to get a room on an upper floor - there are 2 separate banks of elevators, one for the lower half and one for the upper half, and having to ride two elevators was a real pain.

A bit off topic but anyone know if they will be having shows in the bar area again this year. Saw a few good ones 2 years ago.

YYR, those were great shows. A perfect way to rejuvenate after a day of Fest before heading out to the night shows.

They didn't have them last year, and I haven't seen any announced for this year. :(

The beds are DIVINE. Seriously, you will feel like either you're floating on a cloud or that you've died and gone to heaven. :)

I remember a stunning view of the River from the upper floors.
You really see why New Orleans is located where it is. Windows run all the way to the floor.

The room I had was equipped with wooden blinds which kept out
bright sunlight, when angled down, but didn't really blacken the space.

I stayed there a few years back. No complaints here...So long as I have a clean and comfy bed to pass out it and kick ass water pressure, I'm pretty happy :)

nice hotel ... INCREDIBLY overpriced cocktails in the bar. something like $8 for a weak, 8 oz glas of Absolut Cranberry

I love this hotel. Best. Beds. Ever. Good location too. I've never had any trouble with hearing noise from other rooms/floors and the blinds did a good enough job for me to keep the light out.

Enjoy your stay!! :D

Since it's the official hotel of the Fest, there's a pretty good chance you'll see some of the acts filing in and out or hanging out in the bar. One of my favourite fest memories was watching Allan Toussaint and Elvis Costello bailing out of Toussaint's green Rolls Royce...I later said hi to them when they were in the lounge - cool!

No, I think they were just offering a great deal there to keep all of the Threadhead Tab stalkers away from the Sheraton!

Offical Hotel of the Krewe of Last Resort-- the Bloody Mary's are great, we get them for the ride to fest. I have met a number of performers in the hotel during fest. It is a short walk to Mothers, Reasurant August, the Montelone, and the Quarter.
