My wife called me at work and asked me to pick up some milk on the way home so I went to the Key Food to pick some up. They had a display there with various spring microbrews and staring right at me on the rack were 4 six packs of Abita Amber - I have never seen it there before or anywhere around here for that matter. I relieved them of two six packs and took it as a sign that Fest is most definately upon us. Enjoying a cold one right now!!

I had a similar , but different, experience this weekend.

I found God on the shuffle button on my Ipod on Sunday. He kept playing artists that i will be seeing at fest, ignoring artists who will not be there. I could find no other explanation other than divine intervention, and my close proximity to the Pope this week.

Reading between the lines, I believe he had a message for Festy Dave. He was playing the Beach Boys rather frequently. I believe he wanted me to relay this to Festy, for JF 09.

Festy- ignore at your own peril. Im just a messenger. Sort of like Moses.

that is funny because I was at my local package store and I was perusing the beer aisle (mind you this is a store I have been shopping in for almost 3 years) and a new guy said to me can I help you find something? mentioned yeah I wish y'all carried Abita...guy says "I can order it for you", while quite not staring back at me, definitely a gift from above...should be here tomorrow (and yeah, I should have asked earlier but just figured if they didn't carry it they didn't get it)

I have an Abita Gras shirt from The Oyster Bar that might fit you. I've never worn it. I'll bring it down with me :)

Isn't it amazing how that works? I had the Igods doing the same thing for me on the weekend...song after song after song....I probably couldn't have come up with a better mix myself. Granted, I have a lot of NOLA music on my Ipod, but out of 6,600 songs, it's actually a pretty small percentage. It even tossed up a nice sampler of the BNA's: Ozomatli, Michael Franti, Santana and even Burning Spear! (Cue Twilight Zone music here....)

I accidentally posted the following message in the "I'm ready" thread but I meant to post it here. They are obviously playing their sadistic mind games already...

Black helicopters have been seen over the Causeway and on the Northshore!! They were flying low, then banked a left and disappeared in the blink of any eye - very creepy! They were undoubtedly practicing their Jazz Fest flyover formations.

If I only had the Pope's ruby slippers... I could be there in the mornin'! (got a feelin' his Holiness doesn't sport size 13's, tho...)

actually, the one near w%rk in chesterfield valley. it was next to where i was picking up my toe polish (for touch ups during fest). i used to go to the one on lindbergh & watson (near my old w%rk bldg). picked up some earrings too. i guess eager area is a mess due to i-40 shutdown.

yup. Tom called me wednesday. she comes home tomorrow. he's holding out for 2nd weekend, but it dont look promising. at least Drea has morphine to ease the pain of not festing.

they had invited a friend of ours for 1st weekend - she's rooming with me. so now i have a virgin to train on my own. but she's a quick learner.

Saw those black helicopters two years ago when we flew in for Jazz Fest. The airport seemed eerily quiet too when we go there. Turns out, we were the last flight allowed to land before AF 1 arrived. They shut down the roads in as well so we were lucky to have our friends get in to pick us up. Bush was in town to remind everyone that he hadn't forgotten them.....
