For head colds (and anything else) I recomend a Persuader. 2 oz. good bourbon, 1oz. ammaretto, heavy splash of sourmix, shake with ice and pour out straight up. Smooth as silk and after a couple of these, you can persuade yourself that you're not sick anymore. Also good for other forms of persuasion, too!:cool:

Yea! spring break... They are having a big "fiesta" down there we found it by accident 4 years ago the same year we took the kids to jazz fest. It was a great time, so time to do it again! We get home Wednesday, drop the kids with grandma, and off Thursday to NOLA! weeeeeeee!:D

I guess it must be the pre-Fest zombosis (staring at the screen, reading posts and printing out grids), but I just did something incredibly stoopid. Really, really dumb. Here's the story...

I decided to get a jump on my day by making a batch of egg salad. I put 6 eggs in a pot of water, turned the stove on high and then retreated to my office to read some of these threads. At some point I hear this "popping" noise, and because today is recycling day, I figured it was just someone driving over a stray water bottle or something. Anyway, I make my way into the kitchen and there it was: carnage everywhere!

The 6 eggs were burnt to a crisp, and the resulting explosion(s) had made a complete mess of the stove, the counter and the floor. I started cleaning them up, I looked around and then I saw pieces of egg shrapnel on the walls, the ceiling...I've even found shell casings as far as 15 feet away! What kind of a moron can't even make hard-boiled eggs???

Damn you Jazzfest Grids!

I hope it's not an omen of the day to come...sigh.

Yes, in a way! Just moved back here after 7 years out there -- here is closer to home, I'm from Bozeman Montana and Jeff grew up across the Tetons in Jackson Hole Wyoming. I was in the Bay Area from summer 2000 to summer 2007, 3 years in Mountain View, 2 in San Fran south of Market, then 3 when we bought a house in Montara on the coast, between Half Moon Bay and Pacifica. We miss it lots, but we have and will continue to come back to visit as frequently as we can :)

Yup, we loved the area soooo much, but we just had a baby, and wanted to be closer to family, and I wanted to be able to work just part time and still afford a house ;) It's still snowing here, by the way, and yes, we really really miss the beach!!

Those Serve-Safe classes are classic, especially when you get a real overzealous instructor & they bust out the parasite slideshow.

even i can boil eggs. i prefer this method (which i googled and pasted to save typing). and it seems safer for some people.

Put your fresh eggs, with their shells on, into a deep saucepan.
Add water until the eggs are covered. If you add salt the eggs will be easy to peel later.
Put the uncovered saucepan on the stove and turn the the heat on. When the water starts to boil(bubble), take the pan off the heat. The eggs will continue to cook while the water is still hot.
Boiled eggs are better cooked in water that does not continue to boil.
Three minutes will be enough for soft boiled eggs, six for hard.
Serve at once in a covered dish, or wrapped in a clean table napkin. Any way of serving will do, these are just suggestions
If you are not serving them immediately eggs will stay warm for a while and they can be refrigerated for a day or two, but they develop a bluish tinge around the yolk.
