Just found this in my mailbox. Can it be any worse?
As a valued Northwest Airlines customer and WorldPerks® member, I wanted you to be among the first to hear that we have announced a merger with Delta Air Lines. Subject to regulatory review, our two airlines are joining forces to create America’s premier global airline which, upon closing of the merger, will be called Delta Air Lines.

Just heard the BBC reporting that Continental and United are talking and would outstrip Northworst and Delta as the worlds largest airline should they go through with it. Northworst pilots are talking strike to block this, but hopefully, they will want to think about that for, oh, about three weeks and change before they do!

UH OH...Gotta call NW and confirm flight...yet again... Hmm. I wonder if I get delta miles now for flying NW.....
This is big news here, as it is a Delta hub. It would be a huge economic imact if they reduce operations here. The politicos are saying no reductions in labor, but how do they know? Some analysts saying less flights and even higher fares for us.
Please, no one panic. While this is a done deal, it will be several months before they get regulator and shareholder approval. Until then, for better of worse, it's business as usual. There won't be any schedule changes resulting from this that will affect your 2008 Jazzfest flights.

Oh, that's for sure. I forget what it is that's required for those big mergers - Hart Scott Rodino Act or something like that? It takes dozens of attorneys months of reviewing and submitting docs . . .

Delta and Northwest are in a reciprocal frequent flyer mile program. I always get Delta Skymiles when I fly Northwest.
