From the Richard Thompson site:

"For those who have tickets to the upcoming April shows, we're sorry to bear the bad news that Richard received a scorpion sting while on vacation in Mexico, incapacitating his right hand for an expected 2-3 weeks.

Reluctantly, he is forced to postpone all of the April shows until later in the year, but expects to be back up to speed in time for the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival on May 2."

d'oh!... by Jazzfest I'll bet the story goes that he got stung reaching into a beach bag without looking - NOT what my story would've been: walking on all fours after that last shot of Chamucos :)

Sounds like we'll still get to hear '52 Vincent Black Lightning by Richard and Del McCoury - woohoo!

'52 Vincent Black Lightning and Galway to Memphis at the two I'd love to here outdoors. Seen Richard is many small venues but never under a New Orleans sky.... his set is one of Neen (duex) and my "double yellow highlight" must sees.
Hope he can grip the guitar

I've seen him quite a few times too but the BEST show EVER was at JF 2001. It was early afternoon of the first Friday of my very first JF. I was right up front. I was ultra high on the whole fest vibe and he played all of my favorites. It was a heavenly day. He's a great songwriter also an incredible guitarist.

Thanks for reminding me of a great memory. That was my first Fest. He played solo on the then Sprint stage and was awesome! My friends (both first timers in 2001 and the long timers who got me to go to the Fest) and I still talk about that set. That set, among many other great ones added up to me attending every year since, including a few both weekend trips! Can't believe that was 8 Fests ago!

SAME with me though never able to swing both weekends (yet). So I just pulled out my JF folder, I save my cubes and that day I'd written RT's setlist on the back....Crawl Back, VBL, Daddy Was A Mummy, Misunderstood, If You Don't Love Me, Feels So Good, Persuasion, Turning of the Tide, Cooksferry Queen, Beeswing. Sweet memory for sure.

He and Sonny Landreth also sat in with Beausoleil that day.
