lots of good info on what to bring scattered amongst the threads.
thought we could combine those lists here with other advice.

:D my trick is to use a large laundry basket or rubbermaid type container to gather all the odds & ends needed for jazzfest. as you run across stuff, ponchos, sunglasses, etc, you throw it in the basket. good place to stow tickets, maps, lagniappes, etc. ziplocks can be used for the tiny stuff so it doesnt get lost. then when you get ready to pack, you have it all right there in the basket.

:o of course i actually like to use laundry baskets & rubbermaid stuff instead of luggage for roadtrips or camping. easy to pack and easy to use once you get to your destination. you can nest 2 baskets, then you have one for dirty clothes when you get there.

aw $%^*, this thread went under the wrong category. can we have it moved?

Yes, anyone who has ever travelled to Fest with Barb can attest that the entire car is full of large laundry baskets or Tupperware tubs. :D

I accomplish the same thing, but I use my dining room table for a month ahead of time. But I tell ya, it's a b*tch trying to get that table into the car!!:D

I put my big suitcase on the bed in the guest room and put stuff in as I find it. I also make one trip to the Dollar Store to pick up any odds & ends that I might need (shampoo, shave gel, sunblock, toothpaste, snack food) before I leave. It's great not to have to find a store on the first night because I forgot toothpaste.

I make a point of packing a whole bunch of stuff I don't need and forgetting the stuff I can't do without. It's kind of like my own little "Survivor" game, but on my island, there's a Walgreens located a block from the base camp...

Are you watching it this year?

We laugh at ourselves cause we always make sure to have our flasks filled and packed - like we think it's gonna be hard to find liquor in NOLA? And yet, I'm already thinking about what flask/booze we'll bring this year.

Darlin', I haven't watched it for the past three seasons. I'm too busy trying to survive in the urban jungle!

If it don't fit in cargo shorts, I don't need it. Money, Cigarettes, small camera, lighter, sunblock if I can remember, cell phone. But hey...I am a minimalist. I hate donkeying all that unnecessary stuff around.

i've seen skinny guys losing there cargos cause they overloaded the pockets.

add a $1 poncho, it will fit in a hip pocket.

LMAO! I have indeed lost my cargo shorts on occassion. Poncho....nah I likes the mud! LOL! Actually that is the item I always forget to bring and if it rains end up getting a trash bag from the trash collectors....improvisation is a needed skill.
