I saw Joe Jackson at the Count Basie Theater in Red Bank, NJ last night, and it was a great show! Joe is touring with just piano, bass (Graham Maby), and drums (Dave Houghton) and it sounded amazing (guitar? who needs a guitar? Although I loved it when he reunited the original band a few years ago)
One of the best moments:
Joe says, "How do you like my suit?"
I had it specially made, to match the color of a martini olive.
This song is about two of my favorite things: drinking, and the city of New Orleans"
and then they did a funky version of "Dirty Martini", and I think his solo owed a lot to New Orleans piano professors.
Go see him if you get the chance.

Did anyone see Mutlu -- the opening act. I like his stuff a lot. If you're heading to Joe Jackson, get there in time for Mutlu. He's worth seeing -- won't blow your socks off, but quite enjoyable. I can't believe he is opening for Joe Jackson.

Joe puts on a great show. We caught him here on his Joe Jackson Band reunion tour (04 or 05) and loved the show. I wish they would come back here, but N.O. is not on the tour. The show here was a sellout and if he loves the city so much, I don't understand why they are not coming back. If you can see his show, you should. I'll have to muddle through with the paltry number of shows available here in the coming weeks.;)
