are any of these back up and having shows this jazzfest? I believe I heard the State Palace had some shows last year but that the Saenger and Orpheum are still shut down. Sucks to say the least

Actually that's not far from the truth, both are not open and probably wont be for quite some time.:( :(

I drive by the Saenger at least once a week, looks like work is being done, but i haven't heard any official word.....

I remember reading something about the Saenger's restoration in the T-P a while back and recall was going on, but it was slow going due to the extent of the damage.
I recall walking past State Theatre and them advertising a Blues Traveler show on the marque sometime in the daze after fest.

Anyone having anymore info on the Saenger Theatre, please post.
I sure hope that they repair soon. It would be terrible to think of New Orleans without it.

The Orpheum was purchased by an investor from Texas back in June 2006, who had intentions of repairing the damage to the theater
however recently I read somewhere that work has not yet begun on the restoration :(
I hope they restore the Orpheum, it was my favorite of the three
Drove down Canal St. Saturday. Seanger looks sad. Still boarded up with plywood in the mindows. A sad sight indeed.

that's all terribly sad news. I only have been able to check out the State Palace (Galactic '05) and even though it's not the best theatre around I dug it and enjoyed seeing a show there (hot beer tub girls I recall!)
I'd heard nothing but great things about the Saenger and Orpheum so I really hope that some day soon they open back up and I can check them out.
I heard that the Contemperary Arts Center (venue that filled the above theatres void last year and possibly this year) sucks really badly.
