funny - I was thinking the same - but closer to like Washington St. - Irish Channel sort of.....
The houses on either side look pretty okay - so the neighbors might really be interested in someone fixin' it up !

You still have two shout outs left :-)
Seriously.. I didn't start out to have it be a guessing game..
It's on .. crap.. I can't spell the street name...
No..it's not Tchoupitoulas...
Let me look it up..
Palmyra just north of Broad..
Not a nice neighborhood now.. but it might be the next "up and comming" area if they ever build the medical complex just south of there.
I was looking into some family history.. and some great great uncles and grandparents lived in that block years and years ago..
so apparently Irish and Germans once inhabited that part of town.

New Zealand farmers raise stink over 'fart tax'
Last Updated: Monday, September 8, 2003 | 11:51 AM ET
CBC News
About 1,000 farmers descended on New Zealand's Parliament Friday morning to protest against a proposed tax on greenhouse gas emissions from sheep and cattle.
Farmers call it the flatulence tax, in polite company. The money raised would go for research on cutting greenhouse gas emissions.
The Federated Farmers of New Zealand have launched a campaign called Fight Against Ridiculous Taxes. (Note the acronym.)
Scientists estimate that methane emitted by farm animals is responsible for more than half of New Zealand's greenhouse gases.
Farmers claim they are being unfairly targeted by the government and they say they won't pay.
The tax could raise about $6 million a year.

Goat stew is awesome. Not only do they perform yard work, they make an excellent organic garbage disposal. They also provide excellent security for your yard and are safer than pit bulls. We had a goat on our "farm" when I was in college. Rodger was a regular, much loved member of the family until he ate the pot plants. That's how I know about goat stew. We also had a pig named Groceries and while he didn't wipe out our stash, he did share the same fate as Rodger. When we were taken to task for eating our pets, my buddy Blue said, " If God didn't want us to eat animals, he shouldn't have made them out of meat."

We lived on a farm when I was little and my dad borrowed one from down the street to eat the kudzu from the side of our yard so he wouldn't have to deal with it constantly.
LOL
That lasted about 10 days before my mom demanded that stinky creature be removed from our property. (oh my god, it's hilarious just thinking about it).
They are not very friendly to say the least! :p

Great thread, so informative! :D I once had a goat eat the skirt right off of me at a little farm in South Carolina.
One morning-after years ago, I awoke to a commotion in the apartment building next door (inhabited mostly by illegal immigrants who moved in & out of the apartments with hefty bags in the middle of the night, right in Chicago). I looked out the bedroom window and had to rub my fuzzy eyes and look three times to be sure what I was seeing. A live goat being pushed and dragged into the basement. (Illegal and unheard of in the city)
Later that day, a big barbecue next door. Smelled real good, but we were not invited.

Mr. Soul's dream is to live on about 10 acres and have a variety of animals. The most important being something he refers to as "Fainting Goats". Apparently, unless he is just b.s.ing me, this is a breed of goat that will drop to the ground & play dead when they are startled. He laughs every time he talks about them.
ps....kudos to you t-heads on this thread. The drift is JUST amazing. It starts with moving to New Orleans & is so far stuck on goats & tripe. Amazing. LOVE IT!!!!!

No BS about the goats. I think it's genetic, not a conscious defense mechanism. A town just north of here has Goat Days as one of its festivals. That's how I know about them.

Goats are not that cute. Neither are chickens, cows or pigs.
I worked with a couple of people who decided they "wouldn't eat anything they could hug." Apparently, they never smelled goats, chickens, cows or pigs. Peeeew.
I can do without tripe and such. There is a reason it's called offal meat.

Hi, Mon! Took him to the vet clinic @ THE Ohio State University in Columbus last night. What a great place to study veterinary medicine! There were about 8 students and their professor waiting for us when we arrived about 11 PM.
They did an ultrasound immediately. JoJo had surgery last night & he is doing great. He was eating some hay when they called me this morning. Since we caught it so early, there was no kidney damage, fortunately!
He'll have to stay about 2 weeks. I'll be like one of the fainting goats when they show me the bill.

Alright people...this makes multiple times that the sound "baaaaa" has been attributed to a goat. Anyone who knows his/her livestock sounds knows that "baaaaa" belongs to a SHEEP. Goats make the "maaaaa" sound. No, I have never lived on a farm. However, I HAVE read my share of children's books about animals and the sounds they make.
