I was going through some 2006 pix last night and came across a sequence that totally took me back. We'd been soaking in the scene at the LMF on the Thursday before the 1st weekend, and on the way to get yet another Abita at Ol'Toones, I ran into a hard-partying acquaintance from fests here in Cali. He was on the way to the HOB box office and I made an impulse decision to buy a ticket for my 1st Piano night. The picture my wife took of us standing at the box office window together doesn't really tell the whole story, but I laughed out loud remembering that day. The acquaintance goes first and I get to listen in on some of the funniest back-and-forth I've ever heard.
"Can I help you?"
"yeah, I think I may have tickets for some shows here"
"OK, what name? or better yet, do you have the credit card you used?"
"here, try this card"
"yep, here are the tickets"
"uh... could you run another card, too?"
"OK, there are some more tickets on this new card"
"oh, good - I thought I bought tickets for that show"
The guy bundles up what had to be a couple hundred $$ in tickets and off he goes - just another day in the life! Now I'll admit to forgetting where I parked the car on occasion, and I've regretted buying tickets for shows I wasn't physically capable of attending (whoops!)... but I can't ever remember not remembering whether I bought tickets for a show, or not! ;)

guilty of forgetting tickets back at the house - already in the parking lot and 60 miles away from the house!:o luckily, we were able to go to the box office and get reissued tix!:D

after an incident several decades ago we began this procedure. once in the vehicle, everyone is required to actually show their ticket. "its in my pocket" is not good enough. that way we only have to go back a couple blocks.
i know several peeps who have left jazzfest tickets back home and had to have them fedex'd.

Good advice! That's #1 on the agenda for this afternoon.

tickets somewhere in our house; fortunately the box office was kind enough to re-issue them.
Amusingly, we're sober, so NO excuses there.

My most recent ticket SNAFU: The wife and I went to the Magnolia Festival in October. That's a three hour drive from our home, and it's a camping festival to boot.
The Fest starts on Thursday, but we like to get up there early and set up, unwind, whatever.... Well, the first day, we've worked hard, it's dusk, and time to settle down for a nice dinner... For some reason, as I take the first bite of food, it hits me: The tickets are at home. Dang it!
Luckily, we had a couple of friends who now live in California, but they were visiting Tampa (their former home) and they were going to the World Series Game in St. Petersburg the very next night. Better yet, after that, they were coming up to Mag Fest, too! Sweet!!! :D
So I called our neighbor (who was looking after our pets) and told him where the tix were, and to put them under the front door mat. Then I called our buds, and told them to pick up the tix on their way to the game - and of course bring 'em up when they came... Which they did.
So the story had a happy ending, cause them tix are like $120 each! I did NOT want to eat that cost...
Years ago, and I mean decades, when I lived in Austin... Our krewe was going to see Yes in concert at the Astrodome. Having a great time, road trippin' on down to H-Town, we had great seats as well: Like second row for their circular stage, which slowly rotated during the show. Great concept, and we had great seats.
Except, getting ready to go to the show, I realized.... My ticket's still in Austin. D'OH!!! I mean the show was starting in an hour, and old Freddy Bell ain't gots his ticket. :( There was no chance of a do-over, so I bought a crappy seat and snuck down to the floor to sit with my friends.
So I guess if you go to enough shows, it's bound to happen eventually... Woot!
We always start a folder when we plan a trip- and put in it all tickets, maps, reservations etc.
Has worked so far, but I suppose we could forget the entire folder-- At least we would know at the airport, or at the first major highway change that we had forgotten it...
I have forgotten the supplementals a time or two though...

Those things always hit you at just the wrong time, also ruining dinner or whatever, ya know?!

About the worst I've done is show up at the gate at Jazz Fest with a ticket for the wrong day...
Although there was a Weather Report ticket that went missing in about 1976 that musta have fallen out of a pocket and into the toilet.

Doh. That's almost just as bad...
I've shown up at Fest not once but twice with the ticket receipt instead of the ticket. I could easily blame this on vices like herb, too much vodka in the Bloody Mary or Bailey's in the coffee but the simple truth is, I was in too much of a hurry to get there.
