Ponderosa Stomp organizer Dr. Ike was interviewed on WFMU last week and simply said that at his age, Dave Bartholomew doesn't anticipate doing more high profile performances after this one.

I'll always remember at the first Stomp Bartholomew saying "I told Ira this wasn't going to work. And I still don't think it's gonna work." Then off with a phenomenal set by his big band.

Here's Bartholomew himself in a Reuters/Billboard story about the Stomp:

Now 87, Bartholomew still appears with the Preservation Hall Jazz Band, but says he's ready for the Ponderosa Stomp to be his final show. "I'm getting up in age now," he said by phone from his Florida home. "And I want to do it 100 percent while I'm still feeling real good."
