hey FG, thanks for posting this...back in the day I worked at a little indy record store and it helped shape my tastes for both music and the kine ;)
It is totally true that we need record stores to remain on our landscape or our souls die a little. BTW, check the video of Brandy Carlisle singing @ Twist and Shout-the lil one that she invites up does a great job, what a cutie

When there was nothing to do, you could walk to the local record shop, listen to music and look through the artwork. In fact, we still have (and play) about 1000 albums. I don't know if you remember Aaron's Records on Highland. It recently closed - Amoeba pretty much put them out of business. :(
