Anyone know what kind of senior I.D. is needed on public transport.?
At one time I know it was your Medicare Card, which I hesitate to bring with me because it has my S.S. number on it.

Just in case there are any other senior threadheads who may not be aware of it, seniors can travel, as of last year anyway, for, I think,25 cents on any public transport. I must admit, I had been paying full fare for awhile, until I became aware of this good deal.

what do they declare to be a senior? i'm a senior member. ;)

we went to the movies sunday with the kids (16 & 20), i was purchasing by myself and asked for 4 adults. they asked if there were any students, i gave themt he ages and they qualified, so i asked for 2 students and 2 'old farts'. they game me 2 senior tickets (65+), and dang it, they let us in on them.
i didnt make a fuss because it saved enough to buy a soda with.

so this was my first. i'm a senior at 51.

How do I qualify for a Senior Citizen or Disabled Reduced Fare ID card?
Senior citizens can come to the ID Center and present a Medicare card and Driver’s License or State ID. Those under 65 can present a Driver’s License or State ID and Social Security Award Letter. The reduced fare with the ID card is $0.40 with free transfers.

Visitors to the City can qualify for reduced fare by presenting a Medicare card and Driver’s License or State ID.

Lots of retail type places give Senior discounts at 50. I'm so jealous of my friends who get them.

transfers are free because they often get on the wrong bus?

if i was 65, i would attempt to get the discount with just my out of town driver's license.

Too bad they won't just take Driver's license which has date of birth and picture, thus avoiding the necessity of carrying Medicare card with SS # on it and the prospect of Identity theft if lost or stolen. But now that I think of it, the Driver's license I.D would require the driver to figure out one's age from date of birth info, and that might be asking too much on a busy day

Does one need an I.D card or can't they just show their I.D., which is what I have done in the past.?

You can probably write NORTA to find out.
