I am SO excited to hear his latest! But, I have to wait until next Friday -- John and Todd Duke are here for a show, and he's bringing some for us Canajuns to buy.

I love it too! There are a few repeats from his Jambalaya cd but done very differently on this one. Love me some John Boutte!

Crawfish were excellent! Nephew's girlfriend is from Ohio and has never even seen crawfish. She was so hesitant after he peeled one for her we were all dying laughing. After she got brave and tasted it, she soon started peeling them herself and was a trooper. Now I'm cooking stuff for the nephew to take back to the base with him tomorrow. :(

It's always fun to turn a foreigner on to the joys of South Louisiana food. Glad you had a great time, sista.

Ohio??? Where's dat? I here it's like Antarctica in da winter.

We have craws all over the state. The girl must have lived a sheltered life ;)

Most of our craws are eaten by fish - too small for humans to eat, but they are tasty (I've tried 'em). Excellent bait.

Crawfish can even be found here, too, believe it or not. Too many times when there's be a boil up here, usually for a fund raiser for some organization, people will ask me how I can eat those nasty things (crawfish), I as them how can you eat calf fries, one person said, "but that's different...."

Yes you better believe that's different!!!!!! yeeeaoooooooowww

She lives in a super-small town an hour outside of Cleveland. I think it's called LaGrange....she said they don't even have a stoplight!

From Paul Sanchez:

By the way, thought you might like to know and spread the word to your fellow Threadheads that the very first customer to purchase Good Neighbor from the Louisiana Music Factory was Harry Shearer who has been playing it on his radio show ever since.

peace, love and jazz fest,
Paul

I was more than a bit worried about whether I would like the two CD's or not.....and I have to say that I really am enjoying both very, very much. Can you hear the sigh of relief.....

I am very overdue with my report on John's concert here in Calgary on April 4. John was signing his new CD in the lobby when I arrived -- and there was quite a lineup. So I picked up three CD's and when I got up to him, I let him know I was a threadhead. Well, he jumped about three feet in the air, grabbed me, gave me the biggest hug and we talked for awhile until he finally got dragged away to go onstage. So, for those of you who financially supported John's latest release, believe me, you are well and truly appreciated!

John brought Todd Duke with him, and the capacity audience lapped up every word, got all the jokes, clapped and sang-along. John has a following here after appearing at our local folk festival twice since 2005. In fact, he's coming back with Paul to play the Canmore Folk Festival in August this year -- Canmore is a sister mountain town to Banff, and located in gorgeous Rocky Mountain surroundings, so the boys will truly enjoy that.

Setlist:

Muddy Water
Basin Street Blues
Sisters
The Eternal Now
A Change is Gonna Come
Loves in Need of Love Today
It Don't Cost Very Much
Riding on the City of New Orleans
Do You Know What It Means
Hallelujah I Love Her So
All These Things
Walkin to New Orleans
Why
Let Them Talk
Don't Leave Me No More
1000 Beautiful Things
Reet Petite
This is My Home
Saints

I've been listening to Good Neighbour and it's stuck in my head...love Door Poppin', Good Neighbour, Broke Down the Door, and for some reason, I have The Eternal Now on replay in my head when I wake up. It's statement on my life for sure! Good Neighbour is a great CD, and some great playing from great players. Congratulations to you Chris and Threadhead Records.

Buy it! :D

I like 'em both a lot, but I have to admit that the Sanchez CD seems to be stuck in my car's CD player. There's not a bad song on the disk, and I've come to realize that Paul must have been the songwriting genius that made Cowboy Mouth a success...

just want to be clear: there were about 10 original investors in the Boutte CD, and about 5 more who came on board for the final push....they all deserve a HUGE thank you. I'm happy to name them all, assuming they give me their permission....

I think John is prepared to jump three feet in the air and hug each and every last one, no matter how many!!! Everyone who helped should be very proud.

What's also very interesting is that I've had ZERO communication with John thru this whole process (other than meeting him at the Patry last year). All of the work we did was via Paul.

Thanks CJ, just went back to this post as I saw a recent post, finally gave the cd a spin after having the time and I really like it...very John Boutte. I can imagine him sitting on the porch with Paul similar to the patry singing these songs. I actually had it on as background music while entertaining some friends and all of them commented very positively.

Actually I am surprised by that...but I do feel there was instant recognition when I said "threadhead".
