Thanks to a heads up from Swag,I participated in rating NOLA restaurants last year &today got my free 2007 guide.
In the introduction, I was thrilled to read that coming back in 2007 are the Blue Plate Cafe, (This is Hebjamn's favorite restaurant, we ate there 2xw pre-thing and we drive by it at least 1xm to see if they are working on it!),
also coming back are
Barreca's, Gabrielle, Mr. B.s, Steak Knife, Dooky Chase and
MANDINA'S!!!!! :D

I second that on Mandina's! It is beautiful inside. One just hopes that the same fun feeling returns as well ( I am certain that the food won't even be an issue).

I haven't been to Mandina's but keep hearing good things. We need the restaurant thread back from our old board! Remind me why I need to get Mandina's on my restaurant list for 2007....I will take notes and schedule a meal there. I'm still trying new places each year as there are so many I want to get to that don't get to the top of the "must try this year" list.

Dank, its a bunch of uptown New Orleanians fighting him on it. They don't want the parking and traffic problems that would come with a restaurant. Its the old "NIMBY" thing...

Man, tough indeed! He should consider suing the previous owner for misrepresentation and then find a different location, to avoid continued heartbreak. Even if he wins, he loses. Complaints we be unending from the neighborhood.

One would think a reception hall,.. where people usually show up in mass,.. would present a worse parking issue,.. But I can understand why neighbors who only saw the previous business impact them now and then would object to a night after night operation... That comment about dish washers was interestin'...
