Wow that was easy. Thanks guys.

I wanna check out both these places this year prolly for some Bones and some Juice and am wondering if taking the street car to either is a good idea. (I'm becoming more and more concerned about safety issues as I age.) Chickie Wah Wah is supposed to be right on Canal but it's out there. How is the surrounding neighborhood and does anyone know how close to the club the street car stops?

Banks Street Bar appears to be about a two-block walk off of Canal which I could probably make on a good night but again I'm wondering about the surrounding neighborhood as well as who might follow me off the street car.

And of course a cab back goes without saying.

Anyone have an opinion or experience with this? Thanks.

Hey Now Freida--- that area around Banks St. Bar seems OK to me, but then, being a guy (who dosent typically look like a wealthy businessman) might color my judgement..... I do know that Juice is playing on the second sunday at Le Bon Temps on Magazine. Its a great little show bar, right on the trolley line, in a decent area of town. What ever you end up deciding, hope you have a SAFE, wonderful and wild Jazzfest!!! Matthew

Thanks Matthew. I love Bon Temps and Juice but I'm not there second Sun :( I would also like to check out Bon Temps again but I think it's actually on the Magazine St bus line, not the St Charles Street Car. Nevertheless, most of their good shows are 2am ish. And thanks again for the wishes. I hope you do the same.

Oh, and if you go to Juice at Bon Temps, have a little juice for me too, kay?

My mistake Freida, Mama--- sometimes in the evenings, my memory locator seems to go on the fritz..... Anyways, hope you get to check out Chickie Wah Wah and Banks St. but if there is any doubt in your mind about safety, be sure and call a cab--- a couple of extra bucks spent shouldnt break the bank. They're not great areas, but they're not horrible either. However, Chickie Wah Wah hasn't been open since last year and their website hasn't been updated since before Mardi Gras 07 . . .

I haven't been to the Banks St. Bar, but I do go by Finn McCool's quite a bit and if it's near Finn's - that area isn't too bad, but quite frankly I'd take a cab there at night just to be safe, rather than sorry.

i know the neighborhood is not still under-inhabited post-k, but pre-k, if i was parked on carrolton, i would have someone walk me, drop me, or at least watch me, to the car. i dont think i would feel safer now.

jazz fest is high season for muggers, and they're looking for easy marks.

Thanks everyone. I guess I'm cabbing it then since I radiate "easy mark" nowdays. I'm perplexed about Chickie Wah Wah since they have several good shows on the grids. Could that be last year's info, I'm wondering? I'm glad I asked 'bout the club since I was just about to turn my ticket for Bones/Cleary at the "Step House" back in. The Bone dates in the Qtr are conflicts. Guess I'll wait & see a little longer...

Well, hopefully the Grid Gurus have insider info that doesn't seem to be readily available elsewhere - I even tried checking on Offbeat.com and they don't even have Chickie Wah Wah listed as an available club on their site.

Perhaps the CWW folks are using it for just some special events during Fest (much like the Tip's location in the 1/4) and they don't update their website anymore . . .
