I can't believe I'm saying this, but I am considering heading out to Lafayette on first Friday to see this gig -- it's Liquidrone's only appearance. How far away is Lafayette? Anyone been to the Grant Street Dancehall? Need some TH advice. I could be home for Juice or Billy Iuso, but it would definitely mean missing Dumpstaphunk! Damn! why make a boy's life so hard.

The Grant Street Dance Hall is my favorite watering hole in Lafayette. Saw Stevie Ray Vaughan there in 1987. Sonny Landreth recorded live at GSDH a couple of years ago. Worth checking out.

In my opinion the best way to get there is NOT to go through Baton Rouge. Go Highway 90. Four lane with very little traffic except between New Iberia and Lafayette.
Grant Street is a very cool place for concerts. Lot of great artists have played there. It's right off the Evangeline Thruway. Easy to get to.

My parent's house is just a few blocks from there next to the USL (hate UL name) campus.

I need your expert advice, LC, since my wife wants to do the Festival Internationale first Saturday instead of the Fest. We were planning on taking I-10 from NO early so there would be a chance we could catch part of the jam at Savoy Center. We were then going to split Lafayette about 4 p.m. and take 90 back to enjoy the bayou. I know it's a lot of time in the car, but we've never been to Lafayette and don't have other days as an option. Thanks!

If I were doing it I'd only take 90, you've got better get around options that way too if there is a wreck on the bridge over Henderson Swamp there's no detour options. I've seen that completely block traffic for hours (rare, but it's happened more than a few times).
Lafayette is a wonderful place. The Crawfish Festival in Breaux Bridge is the first weekend of Jazzfest, that would be a great option too.

Thank you very much! By the way, just checked on the web and the Crawfish Fest is May 2-4 this year, in case someone wants an option for second weekend.
