Which day do you mean? Thursday? No, you'll have to pay full price at the gate because 2nd weekend will have begun.

If you mean buy on 1st Saturday for 2nd weekend I would say yes... unless there's something I don't know about the Arena box office.

Dewey, I think you can buy the second weekend tickets up to Wednesday, April 30. We are coming in on Thursday and they told us if we were here one day earlier, we could get our Fri, Sat, and Sun. tickets....so I'd say no problem....can you get mine.....ha.!!! Just kidding. I have a Texas friend going next week to get all ours.

Okay, somebody please walk me through this again. $40 if you get them in advance at arena without having to pay ticketmaster, $50 at the gate, correct?
What about if you get them at the Sheraton with your round-up trip bus pass? Any savings that way? Can you get bus pass tixs separately, and do you know the price round-trip?
Since so many people are leaving from the Holiday Inn on Royal -- where we stayed last year and are staying again this year -- I seem to recall you had to get the tixs at non-advance prices and the bus tix together if you were leaving from in front of the Holiday Inn.
Something tells me I should have taken a drink of wine before trying to explain this, or better yet a shot.
Sorry about that...:)

Dewey you could do that but double check to see if the Arena box office is open on Saturdays. I can't recall.

Stella...the price going to the Arena now is 40 plus a 2 service charge and 30+2 for 2nd Thursday. Both were 5 bucks cheaper before January 20-something. Don't know anything about Sheraton...sorry.

Someone please refresh my memory on where exactly the office is located. I know somewhere close to the Dome.

The New Orleans Arena is right "behind" the dome sort of. It's a greenish building and you can see it from the interstate.

i thought thursday was 30+2.

on another thread there was mention that if you did the bus + ticket you could get the advance price, not sure if you have to purchase that in advance (search feature is at the top). you can get just the bus if you already have a ticket, but you cannot get just the ticket.

I can't seem to find that. Can anyone shed any light, I mean on getting the advance festival tikcet price if you buy bus ticket, and when does that end? I would imagine you can't do that day-of, but perhaps days leading up to first weekend or daze between for second weekend?

I was thinking cabs (vans) last year leaving from the Sheraton was about 5 to 6 dollars a person one way... Also, can't we take the street car now to the park (or close) for a lot less. Is this an option? Thanks.

A licensed cab should still be $4/person (or the meter if that's more). But during Fest, lots of unlicensed vehicles offer rides to and from the Fairgrounds, and the price they charge may vary. I suggest agreeing on a price in advance.

From the Sheraton, yes, you can take the Canal Streetcar to Fest (look for the one labeled "Museum" or "Zydeco Express". That's $1.25 each way, fun, but kind of slow. You can also take the Canal St bus labeled "Zydeco Express" for the same price - it's quicker than the streetcar and goes a few blocks closer to Fest, but it's less "authentic".

Again, all the details here: http://jazzfest.swagland.com/transport.html

Swag, i'd buy you a cold beverage (or two) if i could. You could probably announce where you will be a the fest everyday and you'd never buy a single thing all day long.... I know everyone apprecites all you do. YOUDAMAN!!!!! Have a great weekend!

Yes, assuming you get to the Arena in time. The box office will be open until at least 4:30p, but last year they extended the hours on the day before Fest and they may well do the same this year.
