What's the latest on Tony Angello's in Metairie (sp? sorry)? Went there once a few years back for the "feed me" meal. It was great. I read that as of November, '06, it had not reopened.

Thanks for any news,

passed by not too long ago, the building is still a gutted out shell - haven't heard about a reopening yet but I believe they are supposed to rebuild.

Tony Angello's is in New Orleans proper, in Lakeview on Fleur de Lis - the restaurant was not far from the 17th street canal levee breech. I'm sure the water was up to the rafters, so the stability of the whole structure could have been affected.

That particular neighborhood is not bouncing back too quick either :(

Thanks for the reply. I found one post to another New Orleans' message board that said that in November '06, the restaurant was receiving a delivery of drywall and hoped to be open sometime in early '07. Then read some other reports of how bad it still remains in Lakeview, but they're trying. I'm hoping that other things I read about aren't true, or have changed since the time they were reported, that neighborhoods that don't show significant recovery will be bulldozed. Please, God, don't let that happen.

On a happier note, I will be watching the Saints game this Sunday and will watch them play and win the SuperBowl! Saints preserve us!

Haven't heard any word about Tony's grannipeg. Swampwoman is right about the location, it's off of Veterans Highway like much of Metairie, but it's on the other side of the 17th St Canal so it's in New Orleans. The area was hit horribly by the storm and she's also right in that it isn't bouncing back quickly at all. I'll try to remember to swing by there soon and see if there's any info posted for you.
