it was from a thread weeks ago.

when you get some news about the 2007 roots-n-blues-n-bbq fest in Columbia, please create a thread under general music discussion. we had a great time last year. i do hope they do away with 'beer jail'.

Ask and it shall be yours.....
From Tuesday's Columbia Tribune...
It’s official: Roots ’N Blues ’N BBQ is back.

Organizers said the two-day festival will return Oct. 3 and 4, propelled by the Columbia City Council’s approval last night of a $100,000 donation from the Columbia Convention and Visitors Bureau’s unreserved fund balance.

"Put it on the calendar," organizer Steve Sweitzer said. "We’re working on an artist lineup today."

Here's the official web site... http://rootsnbluesnbbq.com/

Unofficial rumors are that the main stage will be moved off Broadway further south toward the University campus. I know it was PACKED up by the main stage last year. No word about the beer jail yet.

ps looks like Taj liked it....
“We have played all over the world this year. There are two shows that stand out: Columbia, MO and Helsinki, Finland. The people here really love music.”

Tab rocked this afternoon in CoMo though the camera work on the screen behind him was a bit loopy.

Sorry to say I'll be missing Buddy Guy tonite but Mizzou v Nebraska takes priority.

the 2009 dates are on the website, friday & saturday, September 25th & 26th. nothing on lineup yet. but i've booked our room at the Regency Downtown. use their site for the best rate (79+) regencydowntown.com

fyi, its the only hotel within walking distance of the fest. if you're picky, this may not be the hotel for you. free parking. coffee and pastries type breakfast. saw Tab sitting on the bench outside in 2007, so i guess some of the musicians stay there.

A couple changes to the fest this year.
1) $10/day or $15 for both. It has been free but it's lost money both years. Sorry to see the free show go but I didn't think it could last.
2) It's been moved up a couple weeks so it's not competing with a Mizzou home game. In fact I have to miss it this year because it got moved up.

i've had room reservations forever, but now there is a conflict with a birthday party / weekend campout.
the line up is great. 10/15 is very reasonable.
BUT i believe the charge is only for MPIX Stage & Peace park. flatbranch would still be free. and that ISLE OF CAPRI STAGE AT WHOLE HOG LOUNGE
is only for the VIP PACKAGE?

It looks like you're right.

The "Whole Hog Lounge" is part of the "Whole Hog Package" ($125/$195 respectively). And the Flat Branch Park stage appears to be still free.

Sadly I will not see any of it this year because happily I will be at a cabin in the woods with no electricity and out of cell phone range with only the wife and kids, a cooler of beer, a hammock and a fishing pole to keep me company.

ps if you make down to Flat Branch take a walk through "my" tunnels. I did the design and install management for converting the tunnels that gets Flat Branch Creek under Locust, Elm, Providence Rd and Stewart Rd for pedestrian/bike use.
