full moon, beautiful weather....
started at the O for Phil de Gruy and harpguitar solo show..
his sense of humor equals his virtuosity...he also plays with Twangorama...
Thurs. nite is now ladys nite at Rays....3 bands, last nite was
Soul Rebels, Marlon Jordan quartet with Delfayo Marsalis..smokin band...
and Kid Merv quartet, free food, one free drink, $5......kermits wife
is hosting this weekly series...also early in the evening they have gifts,
and prizes for the ladies...
talking to Ray (owner of the club), he told me hes going to keep the
sunday afternoon nickel a dance going year round...prolly changing the
name to Sunday Dance a Lot, really good guy, in fact he jumped on stage and sang a tune with Marlon Jordans band
....Kermit Ruffins is starting off the first
sunday in april......ayeeee!...its turned into such a good club, and
with 3 stages of live music, theres never a dull moment..
its also non smoking...a rare gem in new orleans...
and across the street Yukis, had Helen Gilletes french trio Wazozo performing, and they are going to be a regular there now on thurs. nites...
the guitarist from Hot Club on New Orleans sat in with them last nite...
so im thinking they may have music on other evenings soon...
interesting Japanese tapas menu, and an extensive Sake menu...
stopped in at dba, and Susan Cowsill was sitting in with Paul Sanchez...
really good set...russ broussard played ruboard, tambourine,etc.....
and a good street band was playing outside of cafe rose nicaud as i headed home....

Thanks for sharing. (Odd, I didn't notice the moon at all last night. :-( Guess that's a result of the stupidly early change-over to daylight savings time and me being ensconced for the evening by the time the moon comes up.)

geez and I had a room at harrahs and cancelled , I would have been on frenchmen...
